November 19, 201213 yr Hello Everyone, Old geezer, newbie here, SF9 has become my flight simulator of choice, no marching ants, no jagged edges, no flashing, and no tearing. I'm not going to spend alot of money or time to try to get FSX to look as good. So here I am on the AVSIM forum. Been lurking here for a while and seems like a great group of simmers on this forum. Don't know if being old has anything to do with it but I'm GA, propeller head, steam gauge kind of guy and my goal for FS9 is to learn to fly, as realistically as the sim allows, a small fleet of aircraft that represents the different facets of GA. I have all the single engine aircraft that I want for my fleet but with Christmas coming it gives me the opportunity to purchase a couple of twin engine aircraft to fill that niche. There are a lot of products but the problem is that in lots of cases I'm not sure that they will work in Windows 7/64. Spending money on a product that doesn't work produces no flight simming joy. This is where you guys can help me. If you have a GA twin for FS9 working or know of one that will work in Windows 7/64 would you please provide share that information along with the name of the developer. I'm hoping to expand my choices of aircraft. Glad to be here on the forum with you guys. Thanks in advance, Jim L
November 19, 201213 yr Hi Jim, Welcome to AVSIM forums. I hope you enjoy your time here as much as we have. Happy flying! Kind regards,

Jim, if you're afraid you may lose your money, you can't go wrong with Flight1: they have a 30-day refund period, no questions asked. Hope this helps. November 20, 201213 yr Hi Jim, and welcome to AVSIM. Sorry that being a "Geezer' and a bit of a Luddite myself, I'm still using windows XP. So I can't or won't vouch for any aircraft to work on Windows 7. That said, I have and love the Aeroworx Super King Air B200. It is a twin turbo prop. I will certainly look into whether it is W7 compatible or not and let you know asap. Hopefully someone reading this might have the answer and be kind enough to jump in with that information. Best regards, Mel P.S. Here is what I have found at Flight1, the purchase source for the Aeroworx B200; Windows XP / 2000 Recommended - Windows XP / Windows 2000 is the official operating system that is supported for use with the Aeroworx X-treme King Air B200. It may work with other Microsoft operating systems, however this is not supported by Aeroworx. Not very definitive.
November 20, 201213 yr Another extremely ancient propellel-head here... :Cuppa: ....! ....but I must say, that in the past 15+ years of my Microsoft, etc, Flight Sims, since FU II+FS '98, I have never felt the need to purchase an aeroplane in all that time! I have found that the default aircraft, and the zillions of wonderful Freeware aircraft out there, (courtesy of some amazing designers), have fulfilled all my daily flying needs! A very nice piston prop twin?.... The Default Beech Baron 58...and its free!..... :Big Grin: ...! Paul....FS 2004+FS Navigator.... B) ...(and FSX)....!

Whilst I only have about ten years of ctd solving (I mean simming) like yourself I have never felt the need to purchase aircraft. Free ware is very good (for me ) Andy WHOOPS!! I DID buy FS Flying school from 'Just Flight' But by Jingo! that's the only one. And that's the truth Sir!
November 20, 201213 yr Jim - I recommend the new Carenado Cessna Skymaster, which is a port-over from their FSX version and thus benefits from the latest gauge technology. Even thought it's centerline thrust, and not a conventional GA twin with a prop on each wing, it's a really terrific plane. No 2D panel, so be advised if you prefer those, but the VC's are so good in Carenado's latest offerings that you won't be missing the 2D view for long. John G.
November 20, 201213 yr Hi Jim, and welcome! I, too, am an old geezer but not a newbie having owned and flown every version of MSFS since Version 1. And I only like GA, prop driven, analogue gauge aircraft! If you don't mind spending a small amount of money then I can thoroughly recommend the Dreamfleet/Fllight 1 Beech Baron 58. It really is a dream of an aircraft and you won't be disappointed. If you decide to go for this then I suggest you get the "Lite" version as I don't think the Reality XP gauges will work with Windows 7 - at least they haven't for me. You might also want to consider the Eaglesoft/Flight 1 Piper Twin Comanche, but beware the manuals are a bit terse and I have read that their support can leave something to be desired. Otherwise, it is another great aircraft. Hope this helps. David
November 20, 201213 yr Author Good Day Stephen Thanks for the note of welcome. Luis Appreciate the info. Mel Are you psyhic? You found the very reason why I made this request. Fozzer I was already aware of your obession with freeware and your good humor from other post. Your right. The default Baron is an acceptable aircraft. Needs better paint. John Thanks for the suggestion. The Carenado Piper Seneca for FS2004 is the only twin that I know of that is advertised to work in my OS. It is a definite buy. Carenado needs to port their other twins over to FS2004. David Precisely the type of information I was looking for. I don't mind spending the money if I can be reasonably assured the product will work. I will purchase the Piper Commache. That will give me two Piper aircraft. I can use one more twin in my hangar. A C310 would be nice. Thanks David. Jim L
November 20, 201213 yr Hi Jim and welcome. I concur with mebull ... the Aeroworx is regarded as amongst the best prop twins for our sim of choice. The other aircraft I would recommend is Digital Aviation's Piper Cheyenne range distributed by Aerosoft. An oldie, but a goodie, remains the Cessna C310 by the sadly defunct DreamFleet. Paints are available and both come with 2D and virtual cockpits. I, too, run 32bit XP so am unable to state if these will run under your OS. Best of luck with your quest.

Carenado needs to port their other twins over to FS2004. Jim, I've got almost all of Carenado's offerings for FS9, old and new, and they all work in Win 7 64, which is my operating system also. Their Seneca is very good, but the 337 (and Caravan, 210 and F33) are better yet due to their FSX pedigree. Can't go wrong with any of 'em. I'm holding out hope that they will also port over their recent King Air C90 release, as it looks amazing. John G.
November 21, 201213 yr Mel Are you psyhic? You found the very reason why I made this request. Not that I am aware of. Wait a moment, . . . if I were psychic, then I would have already known that I am aware of being psychic and would have known that I was going to type this. At best, I would say I am not a very good one or I could have responded to your query before you had a chance to type it. Sorry Jim, I still haven't found a reliable answer to whether the Aeroworx KA B200 works under W7. I will keep checking. Mel
November 21, 201213 yr If you want noise, smoke, realism etc, nothing better than the Howard 500. The real aircraft still flys today, believe it is back in the States, check it out on Google. Its available in Avsim Library and it's free. I still think it's one of the best sim planes, but not if you are pie high in the sky fmc pilot. Regards Echofox

November 21, 201213 yr Andy I can understand our friend Slow Jim wanting some twins in his hanger, gives that little edge over a single. Following TV programmes like Fly Alaska, Ice Pilots etc., sows the seeds for old planes, especially when you can get textures for Buffalo Airways and others. Dont forget to switch the room light off when flying way North, it's Winter, it's dark, and make it more real with Roger Wensley's frozen sceneries, they are in the Library. Who needs a cockpit computer !! Go for it SJ. Echofox
