Many thanks for the input everyone.

I'll take stock and get back to flying the real air legacy :-) I'll also fire up PlanG and have a look at your plans Jim.

I should note that I'm using PlanG v3 "build 50" (test build) and one of the build notes for that version is "Fixed VOR Radial render used ambient magvar not the value embedded in the VOR data" which I believe is significant regarding my post above.

That test build is available here:

Discovered today that with FSTramp running in FSX, aircraft will not track the magenta GPS track.  The FS moving map shows the aircraft seemingly capturing the GPS track, the HDG indicator on the annunciator then reads GPS, but the aircraft flies right through it, instead of turning on it.  Flying the Feel There Phenom 100.  Aircraft did capture and turn onto the GPS route after a reboot of system and FSX, with FSTramp not running.

Anybody experience similar issue with FSTramp?  Thank you.

VOR is a radio beacon broadcast by a ground station amd GPS is broadcast from satelites. If you have selected the GPS button the a/c will navigate according to the FPL. IF you select NAV then the a/v will navigate according to the VOR frequency you have set up.

There are exceptions of course. Some sim models like the updated VC10 have done away with the GPS altogether as it has never been fitted in the real a/c. Instead the NAV button tracks the INS. And the LOC button tracks the VOR. The HDG button obviously steers the a/c according to hdg set. See, it can be done in the sim!!
