July 10, 200421 yr I'm suddenly getting lock-ups on my computer while running FS9. The screen just freezes and the only thing to get out of it is a hard reset. I then delete my FS9.cfg and the Previous Flight files just to be on the safe side, but then after a flight or two the lock-ups return. Has anyone any experience of what might be causing this?ThanksIntel P4 2.4 - 512Mb Ram - Geforce 3 Ti200 Intel I7-4770 3.4Ghz 16 Gb RAM nVidia GTX770 2Gb Windows 8.1 64 bit P3D 4.4/3.4 FSX SE
July 10, 200421 yr You always worry about heat for one thing. Do you have any sort of system temperature monitoring installed? That would also appear to be an older system, are your drivers all current? How much video memory do you have and what operating system are you running?Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpghttp://www.globecargo.org/images/VAA_Sen_captain.jpg
July 10, 200421 yr Author Hi frog.It is most probably a graphic card / motherboard issue. I have had a similar problem with my ATI Radeon 9500 Pro card. Even with 3 different motherboards ( currently an MSI KT4 Ultra ), I cannot get the card to run reliably with 8x AGP. I use 4x AGP without any freezes. Updated drivers for the card, motherboard, or VIA chipset make no difference. It's a quirk of my card, and most probably, not common to all 9500 Pros.Other possible culprits: fastwrites may need to be off, and write-combining may need to be off.Dick
