October 22, 201213 yr Hi, I hate to be crictical, but if you want any kind of serious performance with FSX, you are going to need to go with Intel and Nvidia. A good budget build would look something like this: Intel Core i5 3570K Asus P8Z77-V 8GB GSkill DDR3 2400MHZ Corsair HX650W PSU Nvidia GeForce GTX660Ti
October 22, 201213 yr Author Thanks Ben When i get home tonight i will give you my pc specs that i have now. Ihave the new geforce ??640 which has 2gb on board running win xp 32bit but i heard win7 64 bit is the best. Many thanks Ian

October 23, 201213 yr I would add good water cooling unit like the Coolermaster H80 or 100 and a Crucial Adrenanline SSD 50Gb Cache for your HD. I would also go with Win 7 x64 Ultimate and I am with Ben on using the ASUS MB, Intel and NVIDIA. ASUS boards are quite forgiving and really easy to OC. I would also encourage you to look at a backup solution to your installation with respect to FSX, I can't tell you how many times I have read about members having to reinstall FSX + addons and the comment being that it takes upwards to a week to complete the task. I am starting to think about building a new system myself just so I can take my time to reinstall FSX and all my addons Good luck \Robert Hamlich/
October 24, 201213 yr The setup you are planing is good as a general computer. But will fail as an FSX setup. What you want is in lines of what Ben said, and in my guide you can find a lot of additional and current info, telling you what components might be the best suited for FSX. Link: http://#####...hardware-guide/ (scroll down for the hardware guide only, and when you have that, might as well try the software guide)
October 24, 201213 yr The setup you are planing is good as a general computer LOL. That is the exact specs of my second, networked computer I just built. Works great for maps, etc but wouldn't consider it for a Sim computer. I even have a GTX 520 video card.
