July 11, 200421 yr Using FS2004. I have ILS set up on a runway, both ends, same frequency at each end, runway runs east-west (90-270). Coming in from the west onto 9 end,at 3k feet, set AP on and APR on,Radio tuned in on Nav1, the aircraft comes in bang in the centre, perfect touchdown, but coming in from the east on 270, setup as norm AP on APR on, the aircraft either jaunts along past the airfield into the wild blue yonder, or it suddenly turns 180degs. and heads out at 90. Both ends backcourse is not ticked,(disabled) and no obstruction on east approach. Glide slope and beam width set at default.Am I doing something wrong??What is the correct procedure for setting up ILS ??
July 18, 200421 yr Did you design some airport scenery where the runway uses the same frequency for the ILS at both ends? If you used old style SCASM/BGLC scenery design methods, it will not work correctly in FS2004. You need to use the new style XML/BGLCOMP scenery design to make it work correctly.W. July 20, 200421 yr I have experience the same behaviour with several european airports, namely EGKK by UK2000, freeware Stansted by John Young and EDHL Lubeck Airport by German Airports Team.In all cases both ends ILS installations have the same frequency, what causes one of them to give errenous indications, thus failing to intercept, or missing the glideslope all together. The little walk around of this problem I did was to use AFCAD utility to change the frequency at one end.Of course I had to amend my charts and manually enter corrected frequency so I don't forget it the next time I fly the ILS, but this seems to be the only way to fix this problem.Apparently Fs9 does not like same frequencies on both ends of the runway.Go figure.Good luckDom
July 21, 200421 yr Hi,This is usually only true for airports with addon scenery, although I have seen it happen once with a new airport. If you can find the navaid bgl file(s) for the addon scenery and remove them, this usually fixes the problem.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
