Available Memory

Featured Replies

Flying to/from JFK photo-real scenery in PMDG 747 I get

"Available Memory Too Low. Shut down FSX and change graphic or scenery settings ...etc"

What memory are we talking about here ? System memory or video memory ? Is it the photo-real scenery ?

I am trying some different airports to see if it is the JFK scenery, but would like to know what memory I might need to upgrade.

If you are running xp 32 bit, you are limited to ess than 3.2 Gig of ram, so upgading either wont help. Besides FSX cant use more than 4 as it is a 32 bit programme.try reducing your settings in FSX, see which one helps.

Thanks, guys. Must be the photo-real scenery that is the problem, as I just flew from ATL to ORD with no problems.

What's the best non-photo-real JFK scenery ?

Fix for out of memory errors:

NOTE: The following applies only to WinXP 32 users:

--------------------------------------------------------

In your boot.ini file, add the /3GB switch:

To "fine tune" the actual amount of VAS allocated, you need only add another

switch to the end of the entire entry:

/3GB/Userva=2560

Should read as follows:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional"

/noexecute=optin /fastdetect /3GB/Userva=2560

or whatever size you wish, keeping in mind the 1MB contiguous limit of FSX. In

such a case, using any number that isn't a multiple of 512MB simply doesn't make

much sense.
