October 27, 201213 yr Commercial Member Installed the demo and I am seeing no weather or no weather changes. Only clear skies . I did experience some snow at Skagway for about 20 seconds then "pop", all weather was gone - clear blues skies again? Tried looking at weather report - looks all the same no matter where I go. What should be set (if anything), as far as weather in the P3D screen - Custom weather button or Themes button?. Too tired to keep messing with this. Going to bed. Not a great first impression. October 27, 201213 yr That's a shame because it works well for me. The manual provides the answers you seek. Good luck, you will not be disappointed. Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk 2
October 27, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hope you are in a better mood after some sleep! Just turn off weather updating in p3d and any other software apart from OpusFSX. Make sure you have configured your p3d install directory and if it is in Program Files you may need to set permissions but our software will display error messages if this is the case. Enable Live Weather Engine in the Configure dialog. Ensure you have unchecked METAR File Import in the Weather dialog. If you open the spy window and force a weather update via the FSX addon menu (or click on OK in the Weather dialog) then you should see the weather being generated. The demo lasts for 10 mins, weather updating is on the ground only and the distance is limited to 80 miles. Cheryl
October 27, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member Yea, I was getting a bit "crusty" last night. Today's a fresh new day, Opus, so we will try again with a fresh new install. I did try to force a weather update but had no luck. As far as I can see, ever Couple of questions: 1. According to the install instructions of the demo you must install in a root directory (ie; F:\OpusFSX). Is that the same with the purchased version? If so, why may I ask can I not put it into the sub-directory of my choice? 2. When forcing the weather update using the drop down list how long should it take, on average to refresh the weather? Seconds? Minutes? 3. In P3D there is the Settings - Weather screen. There is two options - Weather Themes or User-Defined Weather. Which one should it be set to or does it not matter? thx, Clutch Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!) October 27, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hi Clutch Before you start download the latest beta zip file and extract the files into your c:\OpusFSX folder. 1. Yes you must install it in an OpusFSX folder and it should be installed into only one drive, the software searches for its folder on start up so there must only be one. It is placed in the OpusFSX folder to make all the networking options and setup easier. The license key file of course is unwrapped and located in c:\Opus Software, so don't move it ! 2. A few seconds at most (don't blink or you might miss it), but in the demo you can only get weather updates when on the ground. Make sure your FSX install drive and folder are shared with permissions granted to Everyone to access the files. Try opening the Local Weather Report window from the Addon menu, it will show the weather if it has been generated. 3. Don't think it matters, i believe the LWE will set it to user defined anyway (not at my computer right now). If you don't see RW weather then you are not getting it. Check your sharing etc. try opening the main Spy window in the FSXSERVER program and then updating the weather, you should see all the METARs downloaded etc. Hope that helps, if not just let me know and I'll be glad to help.
