I recently bought RCV4.3 and I found that not every message gets through to my headphones. For example, I start everything up, then I tune into ATIS. It works fine, and I hear the ATIS, but when I contact clearance delivery, I don't hear my pilot voice and only the ATC reply. Then when I press 7 to acknowledge, I hear my voice but no ATC reply. The RCV4 box shows that ATC has replied by giving me the ground frequency although I do not hear anything. Could someone help me please.

ATC does not reply normally to an acknowledgement except CD where it will say readback correct. Be sure in options you have play pilot wavs selected. Are you letting RC tune the comms?

No I am manually tuning the comms. It gets quite annoying when I do not hear the ATC give me an instruction to climb to a certain flight level, and then all I hear is ATC warning me that I am below my assigned altitude.

RC only works through COM 1 so be sure you are using that. The frequencies RC will use for departure and arrival are in the controller tab if you wish to know them in advance.

 

Try letting RC autotune the comms to see if the problem diminishes.

If it is intermittent it sounds like an FS performance problem. Be sure you are running RC4 version 4.3845 and a current fsuipc which has improved performance. Prerecorded chatter and display text options in RC should be off and AI chatter and Interact with AI on for best RC performance.

I have FSUIPC4 4.853 and RCV4.3.3845 and prerecorded chatter and display text options are off and AI chatter on Interact with AI. Over these few days it is barely working now. I rarely hear a voice but I can see the options change. Reinstalling does nothing.

For a test do not try to split the sound between headset and speakers. Do you have difficulties when just activating FS and RC?

I'm not splitting the sound, everything is sent to my headphones. They both activate fine.

Have some of your *.wav files got corrupt? You could try replacing them all with the Meatwater voice upgrades from the library here (some hefty downloads but well worth it).

 

A second thought... if you're on Win 7, you haven't installed the wav files into an admin-only folder somewhere have you? Or failed to give RC its own administrator rights?

No I didn't install it in an admin-only folder, but I still launch it with administrator rights. I'll give Meatwater voice pack a try and will report back.

or just do an extended search for 'meatwater' in the description.

 

They are replacements for all the voice wavs that ship with RC: the same voices but reworked to make them sound more authentic-- faster, and scratchier. If any of your originals are corrupt or missing, these will sort that out. They're big zip-files though, coming to a total of about 400 meg between them.

Well I tried a few other things, and it came down to a corrupted copy of FSUIPC. I then downloaded a fresh copy of FSUIPC and now everything is working perfect
