i posted this before, but unfortunately only one answear. please help me to get my water reflections working. i posted two pictures with this thread, so you can see that i only have these two solutions and not beeing able to get both sliders to the right. so: no reflections on the water. i use a geforce4 titanium 4200 with 128mb .please help me because i want to see all of what the sim is able to show.thx and regards,philhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/83963.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/83965.jpg

the reason why you can't have both sliders fully to the right is because it's impossible.Gelandedetails can only be for Land only if you have the wassereffekte on High. The reason for not able to get reflections might have something to do with your videocard not supporting it, I have a GeForce FX5700 Ultra and I've got the same setup as in your first pic and I do have reflections. So maybe it's your videocard.hope that clear things up a little. :-) :-waveshocky :-hahEUROPE UNITED"Can you hear them? my 1000 words..."

thx for this helpfull tip. unfortunatly it doesn`t make any difference to the water when i only use water effects maximum. do i have to set something special on my graphic card like antialiasing or so?thx again, phil

indeed, it does not make any difference, I had the same problem when I had my Geforce 4 MX card.I also tried the same as you, but in the end it all turned out that my videocard did NOT support DirectX9 which FS uses to cast reflections on the water.try the search function and search for water reflections, Im sure you will find topics and people with the same problem and Videocard as you discribed. However keep in mind that there might be no solution for this problem.BTW no problem m8, I know it sux when FS isn't doin what you want it to do *:-*EDIT: here check out this topic, it's not your videocard exact, but similar problem

I get water reflections in FS2004 just fine with the 4200 TI--the issue where the reflections don't display is limited to the GEF 2, and the MX series.Yours could be a driver issue, or another setting in MSFS that has been accidentally changed. I run the 30.82 drivers with my 4200--they have proven themselves fast and stable. There's also the chance that something is wrong in your FS9 setup. Do a search for fs9.cfg on your system, then rename it. FS2004 will rebuild the fs9.cfg with the default settings. You can then adjust your display settings for water reflections and see if this fixes the issue.-John

in case this got lost in the discussions, water effects has to be set all the way to the right. it means land will default to the middle of its range. but, that should yield reflections. btw, I have the same ti4200 card and get reflectionsSherm

Hi Phil, Your cards is fine, fs2004 does not require dx9 complinant cards for any visual, it require dx 9 complinant cards for multiplayer only, all cards that's supports dx 8.1 are fine, MX cards series supports DX 7 only. I got a gforce 4 ti 4200 128 MB 8X, I got anything available in fs2004 with the same graphics I saw on higher nvidia range, the higher range NVIDIA cards with fs2004 ONLY benefic the performance since fs2004 does not have any visual DX 9 feature. -To have your water reflection, you must set your water effect, to LOW-To have bumpmapping with the water reflection togheter, you must set water effect To high.-To have the old fs2002 water animation + the water reflection, you must set the terrain detail to land and water and water effect to low.-You can't set both effect and terrain details to high, it was designed like this for performance.-If you can't see the water reflection to slider to low, it's because of your Regional setting, there was some issue in fs2004, if you don't set this to English US or English Canadian etc. there is some cards can't see the water reflection. To change this , go to control panel, click on regional and language option.-If still not works, delete your fs9.cfg, it will rebuild automatic-If still not works, uninstall your 3d cards driver and reinstall-If still not works reinstall DirectX 9http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/84115.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/84116.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/84117.jpg

Thank you, thank you, thank you!I've been searching for an answer to the same problem and finally I found it. Who would've thought that; the gfx-card, the operating system, the system requirements, the display settings, the game settings, directx, drivers, overclocking and system stability had NOTHING to do with this problem. I've been through #### and back trying to solve this mystery - and it was finally solved when switching my regional setting to English (US)... bleeeeeh..I must say, that is one of the weirdest bugs I've ever encountered.Once again, thank you!
