Is DX10 a GA/VFR thing?

Featured Replies

Hello,

An observation, and please correct me when I'm wrong: I'm following the recent development in the field of DX10 with interest and also admiration for the enthousiasm and efforts of people like Steve and Paul. Haven't jumped in yet myself, since being a 'tube jockey', my impression is that the benefits of DX10 (after all the labour involved) are primarily enjoyed by those who prefer GA aircraft and VFR flying. After switching from FS9 to FSX last spring and tweaking the system to a point where I now can fly the NGX 737 in a very satisfactory way, I'm having doubts as to the added value of DX10 (and another tweaking period). By the way, I read somewhere that AES is not DX10 compatible; if this is true, DX10 is certainly a no go for me.

Kind regards,

Rene

I think the same way.

Hi, Rene, FSX dx-10 is like a brand new simulator for me. Having a lower horsepower PC DX-10 has allowed me a fully functional and smooth simulator. In my opinion it is for everyone flying anything and everything. I fly GA as well as NGX and MD-11. Frame rates are better allowing me some versitility with my sliders. Also my config file is less cluttered with tweaks. It is a cleaner and more maintainable file. As for AES I cannot answer if it is compatiable. I would urge anyone to atleast give DX-10 a try. If you follow the guides in the forum to the T you will be pleasantly supprised. If you dont like it you can always go back to DX-9. I hope this helps you out.

Frame rate is the big draw for me in DX10 has too many issues yet for me to use it, mainly missing textures and lights. I am a GA type but see no reason why DX10 would be geared towards it?
