October 30, 201213 yr Hi all, I would like some help on: What is the "Min Prof" is in the FMC when selecting an approach? Does it affect the descent path? Thanks, Christos
October 30, 201213 yr What is the "Min Prof" is in the FMC when selecting an approach? Does it affect the descent path? I take it your are flying the MD-11? MIN PROF is the altitude at which the PROF mode (VNAV PATH (I think) in the Boeing langauge) while performing a non-precision approach (anything other than an ILS or a localizer only approach). This will drop the autopilot down to basic modes (ALT HOLD or V/S depending on the FCP altitude and pitch mode). It will affect the descent path so you will need to watch the V/S. This number (between 200 feet to 5,000 feet above airport elevation) is usually the MDA (minimum descent altitude) which can be found on the runway approach plate. The minimum altitude bug and altitude selectors should be set according to the approach and MDA setting. Once you are at the MDA, you can set the FCP according to the go-around procedure. I would suggest reading and doing the second advanced tutorial available on the PMDG/Documentation website (http://precisionmanu...loads/docs.html). The approach and landing does include a VOR approach with the MIN PROF entry and a manual landing. Kenny Lee"Keep climbing"
