October 30, 201213 yr Ok, When I use the pc-12 with dx10 something strange happens. a) The beacon is visible only if you look at the plane from the side. If you switch views and you look at it from the back (tail) the beacon disappears. b: If I have the strobes on when in flying and I look down (out the window) the city lights flash like the strobes. If I turn off the strobes the city lights are normal again. is there fix for this ? Thanks Vic
October 30, 201213 yr Hi Vic! Would you, by any chance, be using Orbx scenery or Orbx lights at the time? i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 30, 201213 yr Author Nope. I use experiencex tho.maybe that would explain the flashing city lights but not the problem with the beacon ? Just guessing.
October 30, 201213 yr I sent the ExperienceX man an email, asking about his lights:- ----- Original Message ----- From: pj To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, October 29, 2012 12:32 PM Subject: ExperienceX Lighting Good Morning: I've read some nice reports about your Night Lighting System for FSX, and I understand it is compatible with SP2, but I have seen no reference to its use when using DX10. Can you advise, please? There are an increasing number of folks using DX10 since a gentleman named Steve Parsons revamped some of the shaders in the ShadersHLSL folder, and created a patch for it. This is now published on the Avsim site, details of which can be found here: http://forum.avsim.net/forum/569-dx-10-discussions-hints-and-help/ If it does have DX10 compatibility - you will pick up many new customers! Many Thanks, ***************************************************************************************************************** and the reply:- Hello Paul, for now our product is only for DX9. We are trying to run in DX10, but there is no certainty that it will happen. Everything depends on how the evolution of corrections will be DX10 in the simulator. The DX10 patches in the simulator are evolving and probably soon will have a FSX compatible. So we do not bring lights 3d problems for users. thank you bracket beetleprint ****************************************************************************************************************** Yah - the Beacon is probably a DX10 issue, Vic. Steve made a bunch of experiments when he started this crusade, but nothing concrete - as a fix - came out of it - other than - if you are using Shockwave lights - you don't have an issue. Now - I was on the ground at Concrete at that time, so let me fly for a short time and test a Shockwave Beacon, and I'll get back here in a while - maybe an hour or so.. pj i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 30, 201213 yr Author PJ, Thanks a lot for your help.It really is appreciated!!!!Let me know if the beacon works with the shockwave lights.
October 30, 201213 yr I remember from Steve's lights experiments: the default lights are only visible from inside the cockpit/cabin/flight deck. I'm passing the buck here for a short while, to give you chance to read his "findings" - http://stevesfsxanalysis.wordpress.com/category/nav-lights/ I'm doing the flying bit now, but I don't have a pc-12. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 30, 201213 yr The beacon issue doesn't occur with the default Cessna 172 using Shockwave lights. The beacon is visible thro' 360 degrees. The strobe controlling the ground lights only impacts the addon Orbx PNW lights (if turned on - restart the sim). The default ground lighting - including road vehicles - works fine. Soooo I think it's as Bracket BeetlePrint says - his Night Lights ExperienceX - are not (100%) compatible - as with the Orbx lights. On the aircraft side - I think this may be an issue with the pc12, Vic. Certainly - the addon aircraft I have with lights built-in to the mdl have no DX10 problems: The Sibwings Birdog F has a Shockwave red - visible 360, and strobes have no impact on ground. I couldn't find a beacon on the default DC-3, nor red flash, and didn't check strobes. pj i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 31, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hello, I am following the evolution of DX10 in the simulator. I wonder: What lights and addons which works in DX10? I need a light that works 100% to see where the error in this addon "ExperienceX." thank you Gibaba
October 31, 201213 yr I think can take the A2A/Shockwave Redux aircraft lights as a baseline for the aircraft lights which work. Gibaba, but my experience with ground addon lights is limited to that of the Orbx PNW addon - which has areas of twenty+ street lights which dim intermittently in DX9, and blink on and off when using DX10. I believe that UT_USA? (is it?) that has street lighting? *****Someone correct me please.***** I would like to say "Thank You, Gibaba", for taking steps to recognize that FSX still has plenty of life left in it, and plenty of Simmers who want to support it! We wish you every success! November 1, 201213 yr Commercial Member Thanks, what we study is that the lights called BGL Lights (FS9) used by product UTX work in DX10, but not sure. For now we're fighting to get our product "ExperienceX" work in DX10. But without success. We will not give up. Gibaba
November 1, 201213 yr Commercial Member It seems that we have the product in DX10. We are in the testing phase and if all goes well. which will inform the procedures used to adjust lighting effects in DX10. Gibaba
