July 15, 200421 yr Thx Paul, got it. There was another one that showed the view from the cockpit. I think it was a 747 but not sure. That crosswind landing looks scary, hehe. Must have been a few white knuckled passengers...billg
July 15, 200421 yr Poke about in my site for more Kai Tak fun. Among other things, Eric Thornton of CPA Virtual has done an excellent Kai Tak arrival by 744 in FS.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
July 15, 200421 yr Maybe you are looking for this?http://www.simradar.com/Feature/Misc_Video...tage/index.htmlThat collection includes some Kai Tak approaches, as well as some St. maarten videos. (including the Jet blasting of people on the beach, you gotta see it to believe it)That's only ONE category (Misc Videos) there's more categories to see. The only tip: make sure you set RealPlayer internet connection speed settings to auto AND remember there's TWO versions of realplayer, one of them is COMPLETELY free, you just have to look for the link to download FREE realplayer (in case you don't have it already)
July 15, 200421 yr I've made that landing several times for real as a passenger and once as pilot in a British Airways full-motion 747 simulator... it was, well, 'interesting' every time :).
July 15, 200421 yr Hehe, had some fun in a 747 myself. Flew to Okinawa where the local weather was a typhoon, hit wind shear so bad when we caught the updraft I watched the wings bend up a good few feet not sure how much, felt like we hit the bottom of a roller coaster on its way up, a woman holding her baby had the baby fly almost half way to the ceiling, quite a few people screamed. It was one rough ride the whole time. Ended up heading to Tokyo for an overnight layover, I have no idea how many feet we dropped but it felt like a quite a lont time of free fall. Then when I left Okinawa a year later the 747 landed in AK, we were in a heavy crosswind and i believe the runway may have had icing problems, The stewardess in the seat facing me by the door turned white and looked scared before we landed? When we touched down we hit hard, bounced and swerved all over, I was trying to stay calm while staring at a stewardess who looked ready to faint, think the beer I drank on the way helped a lot. Thanks for links of Movies.
