Accessing SDK directories onFSX disc 1

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently had to uninstall & reinstall FSX. I am attempting to add SDK to FSX, but when I insert disc 1, it immediately starts the installation. If I stop the installation & click on the FSX symbol, to gett the SDK folder, it just loops & never opens. I had previously installed SDK without a problem before the uninstall. Can someone help?

Calvin

Just insert Disk 1. If a box comes up to repair or uninstall FSX disregard. Open up Windows explorer and go to the directory of your DVD Drive. Look for the FSX SDK folder and click on setup. If you get the loops and it never opens, shut down Windows and then restart it with the Disk in your drive. When it starts up, open up Windows Explorer and go to the DVD drive.

Best regards,

Jim

Hi again,

Tried both. Still not working. When I click on the SDK folder, the dropdown arrow disappears & it just loops. FYI, SDK was installed previously without any problem. Suggestions? Uninstall is not an option.

The disks cannot be browsed on some DVD drives because of copy protection. Just go to Programs > Accessories > Run and paste "G:\SDK\setup.exe" into the Run box, click "OK". Replace the drive letter (G) with the drive letter of your own DVD drive.

No worries Calvin, now the next question is which version of the sim are you running? That SDK will only work with the original RTM "FSX Deluxe", if you've upgraded your sim to SP1a, SP2, or Acceleration you've got some more SDK installing to do. Your sim itself should at least be upgraded to SP2 for the sake of best gameplay, then you must also upgrade the SDK to match. Let me know which version you're patched to, and if you have the FSX Gold disk set so I can tell you what to do next.
