Featured Replies

Hi

Just got ASE and its great to have up to date WX again , just a quick question about two settings .. i use FS9 ... under the Cloud settings what do people set as Stratus cloud occurence? ... in AS6.5 i had favor Cumulus vs Stratus unticked ....and what do FS9 users do for disable haze layer ? tick or unticked ? .. in AS 6.5 i had depict FS haze layer ticked ... in ASE i have disable haze layer unticked .

Thanks

Hi Rich,

Hopefully others will offer some tips as well, but I can get you started. Stratus Occurrence is basically by taste. Know that for IMC, stratus does better in blocking view of the ground for overcast layers, so you may want more stratus in that case. Cumulus provides more vertical cloud formations that look more dramatic. You may want to try a few different settings and see what you prefer.

Haze layer: When haze layer is disabled, you won't get the normal FS haze layer effect which shows visibility (as viewed from above, for example) as a thin layer. The haze layer effect has unwanted properties when flying at higher altitude (it appears as a ring of haze following the aircraft). It also blends hard against mountainous terrain, appearing to cut inside mountains. Basically its better for lower altitude flying in flatter terrain. For all other purposes we recommend disabling haze layer.
