I've just download and installed RC 4.3.3845 and FSUIPC per the install guide. I've loaded a FSX flight plan into RC, started FSX, hit RUN in the RC dialog window and ready to go, but I don't see any RC ATC window in the FSX view. I am totally new to RC so have likely missed something. I am flying the NGX and for other add-ons please see my sig.

Update - I have the RC window now. I found the option to display the window under the general settings. Now for my first flight, EGLL to LOWI, fingers crossed!

If you are referring to the Display Text option in RC that should not be necessary unless you are on a network over WideFS in some cases. That opens up a different window type that slows RC performance.

Current FSUIPCs are much newer than the one distributed with RC. FSUIPC opens up the windowe directly now when RC is started. It looks like a regular Windows type display, transparent, with a status section and a menu section. You should update and install FSUIPC and makerwys.exe from the following links:

http://forum.simflig...pdated-modules/

http://forum.simflig...ional-programs/

After updating makerwys.exe run the RC scenery rebuild again.

There are some settings that need to be made in the General tab of FSUIPC. To get to FSUIPC settings starts FS with a flight loaded, bring up the FS menu bar, click modules, and then click FSUIPC. In the About and Register tab be sure Show Multiline is enabled and suppress single line is disabled.

You can also make sure the RC-FSUIPC window is not off screen - use FS in windowed mode to test.

Run your test with a default aircraft in FS and RC with no other app running to insure there is no interference with apps that also open an FSUIPC window within FS. If so we can go from there. If you are getting a green bar full screen width menu or a green rectangle with the RC menu that is old style. You can disable that by going into your FS modules folder and renaming advdisplay.dll to advdisplay.dlh to disable that. If that causes problems with other apps then you can rename it back.

Hi Ron,

Okay I have installed FSUIPC4 ver 4853, downloaded and run MakeRunways 4612 and re-run the RC Rebuild Scenery DB. My General settings are...

Loading FSX default Cessna and FSX flight plan and start RC, I see the following...

Clicking "2" I get the weather conditions but I hear both the default FSX and RC voices together. I see the data in the green scrolling bar at the top as normal.

Clicking "3" I get the RC pilot and ATC voices...so far so good! Clearly there is a lot to learn here especially coming from the FSX ATC so your patience is much appreciated.

Cheers

Your display looks good. Unless some other app is using it there should be no green scrolling bar.

I am not a network user for FS so I can't comment on that.

There is a utility called Show Text that can do the green scrolling bar used by cockpit builders. It works like AdvDisplay.dll in the modules folder (which should be deactivated by renaming the .dll extension). A WideFS client may also use this feature.

I do not know if FSX offers to display ATC or just ATIS/WXR information as text. Some weather, "crew", and other apps do this. It is a good idea to disable those options if not required.

If you prefer white text instead of red in the RC/FSUIPC window enter the following line in the General section of FSUIPC.ini after making a safe copy of it;

WhiteMessages=Yes

The RC\FSUIPC window can be sized and dragged as needed. If you do that be sure you place the cursor somewhere on the aircraft panel and click it so the FS view is the active view and RC will then accept keystrokes. It's position in a saved flight is remembered. You can also set up a toggle to alternately hide and show that window. I use ctrl-x as that hot key by adding to the General section:

AdvDisplayHotKey=88,10

It will display automatically on the next ATC communication. I hide it sometimes when taxiing or on final if it blocks the view.

In the FSX sound mixer turn down the ATC slider so you only hear RC ATC voices. In some versions of Active Sky there are options to display and voice weather reporting including station reporting as you cross boundaries. I recommend avoiding enabling those. When you are at or going below the transition altitudes RC will report surface barometric pressure as needed.
