July 19, 200421 yr anyone know where i can get my hands on a decent fs2004 saitek joystick profilethanksshane
July 19, 200421 yr You're welcome to try mine. It's done with the FS9 profiler rather than the Saitek unit, but I've been using it now since FS2000 and my first Saitek Stick/throttle ( X-36 at that time) and has worked well for me. Doesn't use all of the features, but the basics are there. You should just be able to copy and paste right into the FS9.cfg file. If you want to retain your prior settings until you see if you like it just put "" in front of the default settings ( no quotation marks needed) and then if you want to return to your previous setup, all you have to do is to remove the inserted lines and the "" marks. Would suggest you save a copy of the unmodified cfg file in any case, just to be safe.[JOYSTICK_MAIN {D80184E0-BC76-11D7-8001-444553540000}]AXIS_EVENT_00=AXIS_AILERONS_SETAXIS_SCALE_00=64AXIS_NULL_00=26AXIS_EVENT_01=AXIS_ELEVATOR_SETAXIS_SCALE_01=62AXIS_NULL_01=1AXIS_EVENT_03=AXIS_PROPELLER_SETAXIS_SCALE_03=0AXIS_NULL_03=0AXIS_EVENT_05=AXIS_RUDDER_SETAXIS_SCALE_05=64AXIS_NULL_05=36AXIS_EVENT_06=AXIS_THROTTLE_SETAXIS_SCALE_06=127AXIS_NULL_06=1AXIS_EVENT_07=AXIS_MIXTURE_SETAXIS_SCALE_07=0AXIS_NULL_07=0BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_00=EYEPOINT_DOWNBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_01=ELEV_TRIM_DNBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_02=ELEV_TRIM_UPBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_03=EYEPOINT_UPBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_04=GEAR_TOGGLEBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_06=TOGGLE_PUSHBACKBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_08=VIEW_MODEBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_09=GEAR_TOGGLEBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_18=BRAKESBUTTON_DOWN_REPEAT_18=2BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_19=BRAKES_RIGHTBUTTON_DOWN_REPEAT_19=2BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_20=PARKING_BRAKESBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_21=BRAKES_LEFTBUTTON_DOWN_REPEAT_21=2BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_22=FLAPS_DECRBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_23=THROTTLE_DECRBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_24=FLAPS_INCRBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_25=ENGINE_AUTO_STARTPOV_MOVE_EVENT_00=PAN_VIEWPOV_MOVE_REPEAT_00=1Hope it helps,Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpghttp://www.globecargo.org/images/VAA_Sen_captain.jpg
July 19, 200421 yr Hi,I use the Saitek X45. I use the Saitek Profile editor to create the profile and turn off almost all joystick assignments in FS, except Throttle, rudder, pitch and bank, Kneeboard and cycle views. Everything else is programmed. The problem with giving you a profile is that I use a different profile for every aircraft addon I have. One profile for PMDG737, another for RFP747, another for CS727, etc. This is necessary because I mostly use the buttons for changing panel views. (and pitch, flaps, TOGA, etc). Of course, with these different addons, there are different combinations for these windows, so its necessary to create a different profile for each different aircraft.I was like you, when I first got my X45. I searched google until I got blue for profiles. But none seemed to work just right for me. Go to the Saitek website, and do some browsing. You'll get to an page that explains how to create your own profiles. Just read it once or twice, and try makign a simple one yourself. Of course, for you to do that, you have to ensure that you install the "Advanced" version of the Saitek drivers.Trust me when I tell you its very very easy to create your own profile. Good Luck.
July 19, 200421 yr The one issue that I have had in the past with using the Saitek profiler is that I use Windows XP with a MS trackball and Keyboard. The Saitek profiler installs some sort of a virtual mouse and keyboard which created all sorts of conflicts with the MS hardware that I have. I'll admit that I haven't tried the latest version of the Saitek software, mostly because what I have is working so well.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpghttp://www.globecargo.org/images/VAA_Sen_captain.jpg
July 20, 200421 yr I get your point. I could see how that could pose a problem. For me, when I bought the Saitek X45 about a year or so ago, the first thing I did was go to Saitek's website and hunt for the latest drivers. As a matter of fact, as a RULE, I never install hardware with drivers that came on the CD with it. I always look for later drivers online.I should also tell you that I use a rather cheap but effective A4Tech 5-Button optical mouse ($15) and (LITERALLY) a $2 keyboard. Works flawlessly. As a matter of fact, I can't remember how many times that mouse has fallen on the ground, and how many glasses of orange juice has spilled on the keyboard. Somehow they keep surviving.....close to 3 years now.Hey.....when you're spending big bucks for video cards and processors and addon aircraft, something has to suffer....Mouse and keyboard volunteered....... :)Of course, the plus is that there's no fancy keyboard/mouse drivers to clash with the Saitek drivers.
July 20, 200421 yr I never even loaded any of the software. I just program the stick right through FS. Flightsim was able to recognize every button by default (at least all the ones I need for flying). I don't want that profile program taking up resources. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
July 20, 200421 yr cool thanks guys i can program the stick in fs but i cant load the profile i designed donest work when loaded shane
July 20, 200421 yr >cool thanks guys i can program the stick in fs but i cant>load the profile i designed donest work when loaded >shaneShane, I think I had the same problem you are having. I installed the latest drivers from Saitek's website. I could create the profiles just fine but they didn't work. The test to see if a profile works or not is to load notepad.exe and click the buttons on the joystick. You should get some strange text in notepad. Through trial and error I finally discovered it was the new drivers. For some reason they weren't installing correctly. When I used the drivers that came with the Saitek joystick everything worked. Anyway, give that a try. Does anyone else have this problem with the new drivers? Any solutions?Regards, ________________________________ Ken B. Jackson - KSAT Private Pilot - SEL San Antonio, Texas

July 20, 200421 yr Can you tell me the version of the drivers you're having problems with? I got mine, like I said, about a year ago. And at that time, I used drivers from the website, not the CD. I haven't re-visited the site looking for new drivers, because the ones I have works quite well.To find the version, right click on the .exe file and select "Properties".Then select the "Version" tab. At the top mine says:File Version: 4.0.100.1190Description: SD Drivers & SST Programming Software for Win2K & XP Then in the "Other Version Information" box, clicking on "file version" shows a value of 3.2.0.18One other point about Saitek drivers....if you have drivers already installed, then un-install them before installing new ones. Also, ENSURE THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE THE JOYSTICK PLUGGED IN BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE DRIVERS. That is very important.....it was a source of annoyance for me until I read the big yellow tab on the wire leading from the Joystick to the USB connector.......which said exactly that. :)
