November 16, 201213 yr Author Standard Mode and Smooth Cloud Transitions mode are subject to improper depiction by FSX due to internal FSX interpolation issues. The data will be fine, its the depiction that can result in wind shifts and improper wind directions. This affects aloft winds only. I am either too lucky or careless, as I have never noticed a discrepancy between the winds in the list and the ones in the sim. What is happening very rarely (although FSUIPC wind smoothing is activated) is wild wind direction variation (180deg and more); almost always low (4000- 500 ft) and while METAR is reporting variable winds. Maybe this has to do with Standard mode (which is what I use). Never nailed down the reasons or the pattern, but anyhow makes for an interesting landing. However, the temperature shown for TOC/TOD is mirroring the setting for surface information for departure/destination/alternate. Unchecking that will show the correct aloft information for TOC/TOD. I know this is not quite intuitive, and we are working on improving that. Just checked that. Seems that only "GS" and "Hdg to Fly" get affected in TOC and TOD lines.
November 16, 201213 yr Moderator The files are in place and they can be played. Level and everything also seem normal when played this way. i played around with the settings of the audio driver (onboard Realtek), and using "Loudness Equalisation" (augments only subtle sounds) the thunders are juuuuust hearing (with slider full and others at 40%). Which was not the case. Something/somehow has changed the balance of the sounds in FS. Any idea how this can be tuned besides the sliders? IN the FSX sound options, are sounds mapped to the default windows sound device or someting else? RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
November 17, 201213 yr Author IN the FSX sound options, are sounds mapped to the default windows sound device or someting else? Set at "Default Primary Device". Everything else (engine, cockpit, even precipitation) is heard, anyhow.
November 17, 201213 yr Moderator Strange. ONly thing I can suggest is to go through the device manager and test your sound settings for your devices. Just set up basic settings - no reverb, etc. You might uninstall and reinstall your sound drivers but without being right at the machine, can't think of muc else t try. You could also search around for a different thunder.wav file and see if that makes a difference. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
November 17, 201213 yr Author I try all different thunder sounds in AS and std FSX. But if there is nothing else sound related in FSX (like a cfg or xml), it must be something with my drivers, hw or installation. So, I am afraid that I am waisting people's time on this issue. Thanks anyway.
November 18, 201213 yr Author vgBaron, If you still hear, thanks a lot. I uninstalled driver and device, installed and everything back to normal. Have no idea why, but i can hear again the thunder! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
