Side-by-side error in FSX with Windows 8 Pro

Featured Replies

SP2 didn't install. No error number, just some information that the installation failed. Duh. Then I remembered I still had FSX Acceleration and if I remember correctly, correct me if I am wrong, that pack contains SP2. So I installed Acceleration and lo and behold, all went well. All seems to be working now and I do hope all add-ons I have will install correctly, too.

Glad to hear you have it installed. If you had Acceleration installed in the past then uninstalled Acceleration and FSX then tried to reinstall, SP2 will not install if it 'sees' Acceleration in the system registry. So this might have been your problem. This is why it is recommended to use a registry cleaner once you uninstall FSX or a fsx addon. There's a program on the Internet called Uninstaller2 by IObit that uninstalls a program then does a search on your system for any leftover files in your directories and the registry. You'll be amazed by all that's left over after FSX is uninstalled. BTW, SP1 and SP2 can be downloaded from the AVSIM Library. Thanks for telling us how you fixed your problem. It could definitely help one of our other members in the future.

Best regards,

Jim
