HUD remains in AIII mode after TOGA

Featured Replies

This evening, a flew a series of CAT II and CAT III approaches using the HUD in the AIII mode. These appraoches concluded with a manual go-around and flying the published missed.

When the TOGA buttons were pressed, the FGS modes in the HUD changed to TOGA but the HUD mode remained in AIII. Also, once TOGA is engaged the Flight Guidance Cue (little circle that you follow with the Flight Path Symbol) s removed and does not return once a lateral or vertical mode is selected for the mised approach. Therefore, there are no guidance commands presented on the HGS to fly the missed approach approach. Also, the TOGA Target Pitch line is not displayed in AIII mode after TOGA is engaged making it difficult to set the correct initial missed approach pitch attidue.

According to the Collins HGS PIlot's Guide that I have, the HUD should change from AIII to PRI when the TOGA is engaged (i.e. when the TOGA buttons are pressed). This HGS mode change should be independent of what is slected in the HGS STBY display. Does PMDG have information that suggest otherwise?

If necessary, I will submit incident report so that it may be addressed with the next update. However, I would like to know if my information is correct before doing so.

Thanks! As always, it's a great add-on.

Thanks!

As stated in the topic, there's a setting within the FMC to disable automatic mode switching of the HGS somewhere. I'm not entirely sure where that is, but that may be the root of the problem.

That post says about automatic switching to AIII.

We mean automatic switch from AIII to primary mode after pressing TO/GA, which should always work. Threre are no settings in FMC for it.

There is a selectable option in the FMC so that while on approach, the HUGS doesn't automatically switch to AIII mode.

So, question to the group...should I submit this as trouble ticket for the next change?

Thanks!
