July 23, 200421 yr Luigi,Dont feel bad, I have had the same problems as well with the new Austrian Airports as well, purchased 1-2-3-4, currently I am going thru all of them one at a time to try and weed out the problem with the CTD I have been getting as well, double check all the AFCADs, will start working with the display config tonight in the FS9.cfg, I am also going thru them one at a time to see if it is a particular scenery piece as well.JB
July 23, 200421 yr Yes,i also found lsass.exe in processes and i removedit using Symantec utility. Let's see....Thanks for helpingLuigi ;-)
July 23, 200421 yr Hi JB.It's true: i had double AFCAD, i had double DISPLAY entry in FS9.cfg, i had lsass.exe running in background but really didn't encounter any CTD before! Lucky??????????????Yes, it could be, but after your post i'm convinced it's an Austrian Airports related trouble.Later oncheersLuigi ;-)
July 23, 200421 yr Hmmm... Luigi there is a XP System process that is called lsass.exe. It is the Windows Local Security Authority Server Process, and it handles Windows security processes. It verifies the validity of user logons to your computer or server. lsass.exe generates the process that is responsible for authenticating users for the Winlogon service. It would not be a good idea to delete this file. A number of system security processes depend upon it to work properly.Good luck,Greg
July 23, 200421 yr Last attempt was done after Austrian Airports scenery disabled in scenery.cfg, i mean ACTIVE=FALSE.But as soon as Cyprus coastline appeared i got that terrible CTD again, this time mode name was panels.dll.So, what i have done since the whole thing begun:1) edited terrain.cfg2) deleted double AFCAD and scenery entries3) disabled Austrian Airports 2005 scenery4) restored CPU+Video card Freq's to their default values5) removed from windowssytem32 an older version of directx.cpl that may cause problems. But CTD is stick down there and i'm going to give up: too frustrating and time consuming. What i think is that last week i have just completed my 737 world tour using PMDG 737-700 and never had a CTD during 9 months. So, is there anything else i should do before formatting that hated FS9 partition? Thanks for helpingLuigi ;-)
July 23, 200421 yr Hi Greg, you're right! I think our friend was confusing lsass with sasser worm.In effect MS Sasser Worm Fix didn't find anything wrong on my system.Take careLuigi ;-)
July 24, 200421 yr Sometimes I believe it can be caused by installation of an earlier version of AFCAD... At least several packages downloaded, put an afcad made for 2002 in my sim... When I had a CTD, a few days later before running the sim again, was looking at my ADDON folder. Found half a dozen old acad files in it. Also found some current AFCAD files, which were duplicates, with different names. Deleted all the dupes etc., and havent has a crash since.
July 24, 200421 yr SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NO MORE CTD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NO ONE OF MY SUPPOSED CLUES WAS RIGHT.The culprit was a stupid panel editing i did on the PMDG 800; so just restored default panel.cfg and had no more CTD since. Now i am an happy camper (again).cheersLuigi ;-)
July 24, 200421 yr Hi Petteri, just one additional thought: i have tenth of addon sceneries located on a reserved partition. How should i use ScanAFD to check for duplicate AFCAD in original scenery folder and FS9 Addon scenery folder? Does ScanAFD search also in addon sceneries partition outside FS9 main folder?cheersLuigi ;-)
July 25, 200421 yr Luigi!Regret, but can't say anything about partitions as I haven't partitioned my HD. At least there is an option in the scanaf to search other folders.Petteri
July 27, 200421 yr You may be correct, that reminds me a couple of months ago, my wife had the same problem on her computer. It ran find in the mornings, as the day warmed up, it began CTD's... We stuck a thermometer in it, and every time it hit 95 deg, it crashed. Within a week, it was crashing at 80 deg...Took it to our favorite Tech, he checked it out and found a bad bearing in the CPU fan. The fan was one which kept track of the temp, and shut the system down when it reached the internal temp. It was only 6 months old, so he put a new fan in under warrentee, and the problem disappeared.
July 27, 200421 yr Hi folks,I think I'm suffering from the memory leaks mentioned by Big Al. I've had my share of CTD's happening when I contact ground after arrival. I've also noticed that for the first ten minutes my ground and aircraft textures (wing views) load instantly but after a while they start loading very slowly. This happens on various aircraft. The poster suggests we look for replacement autogen textures. Most of the ones on the library are country-specific or built for FS2002. Is there a generic replacement autogen file set that may solve the memory leak in FS9? Or another way to do so? Thanks.Mauricio
August 2, 200421 yr I recently bought the FSQuality Austria sceneries (1&5), and I was getting constant ctd's anytime I flew near Innsbruck. I uninstalled the sceneries completely, and my ctd's went away. I had already previously applied all the ctd fixes mentioned in the many threads before, and I haven't had any other than with this scenery. I would crash every time I took off from runway 8 (I think it is 8) and follow the SID. As soon as I got near RTT, it would crash. I tried it a few times, and always a crash in the same spot. I'm going to try to contact the author and see if he can be of any help. Does anyone else know of anything to try? As I said, I have already applied all the usual ctd fixes. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
August 19, 200421 yr Everyone, if you dont know yet, FSQuality has released a patch of re-engineered BGL files on their website, www.fsquality.com, I believe is the site, but be careful, if you downloaded any of the scenery from places such as SimMarket, you are going to have to manually install the BGL files into the specific locations for the specific scenery being used, I will say this, they fixed my CTD problems.JB
