November 19, 201213 yr Hey guys. 1st Radar contact is great! I am wondering - When I am told to contact the next controller I have to choose "ack and contact" and not "to acknowledge"? Why I am wondering - I use real pit controls for my radio. So if I am on say 118.00 and departure is on 126.75 I would think/hope the proceedure would be "to acknowledge" (ctrl 7) switch the radio and then contact departure (ctrl 1). But I think it wants to do that for me with the "ack and contact". If I do choose Ctrl 7 my pilot voice does read back correctly. But the controller acts like he does not hear it. Tonight I am not sure what happened but when it asked me to "Contact Departure" I could not even select "ack and contact" (ctrl 1) manually. Maybe RC got stuck in some sort of loop and would not recognize the command? I could choose "to acknowledge" (ctrl 7) and "Contact Center" would show up but the guy would still come back to me just kept asking me to "Contact departure" even if I switch fregs. Before this flight I had just turned off "Tune on Contact" and "Pilot Autoreply" - And hope to keep them off & I do not want the copilot to work the radio. I guess - unless I am wrong and if RC5 does start back up - I wish that I just acknowledge / tune my radio / contact next controller. I have built voice activated commands so I can practice real world procedures. Finally just to be sure - I can not just "to acknowledge" (ctrl 7) to switch controllers? Thanks guys Rob"Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it"
November 19, 201213 yr You can just ack and then later contact the next controller after tuning your com 1. Delaying an ack as you cross a waypoint can cause RC to stall and you will not get credit for that waypoint. For frequencies insure you tune the ones indicated, not ones on the chart. If you are flying a complex aircraft I suggest you let RC tune the radios as normally the pilot is pretty busy to handle that. Be sure you are flying at 1X, no acceleration, in FS. If you still have problems send in a log using the procedure in the pinned topic at the forum head.
November 19, 201213 yr Author Roger your last Ron. I will fly again today and see what happens. Just fyi - I do only use RC radio fregs, I would hand off comms but it is helping me to learn - since I have programed in voice command. I hope I did not hit x1 but I will make sure. I did not know that about the delay over a check point and will be sure to attend to it promptly. Appreciate the help. Rob"Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it"
