Voice Control without an english version of Windows

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

first of all, I'd like to thank you very much for that great piece of software.

My question is, if the Vistalizator would be really the only way when I don't have an english windows, or Windows Ultimate? I use a german Win7 Home Premium Edition and I've read that the Windows licence can get lost when using Vistalizator because it's not allowed to do that. You have to upgrade to the Ultimate Edition which will cost me 165€. A high price at present.

Is there really no other way?

Cheers,

Guenter

kind regards,

Hi Guenter,

Best solution is to get Windows 8.

I do not recommend upgrading, but rather do a clean install on a fresh drive.

With Win 8, anyone can download the English - US language pack from Microsoft.

This is a great thing for FS2Crew Voice users from non English countries.

I'm a bit skeptical with Win8. I want to have a desktop operating system and not an operating system for a tablet or a mobile where the desktop is a simple app.

At present I'm really happy with Win7. Why can't the FO learn the english words with the german setup? What is the problem behind it?

kind regards,

Guenter

You'd have to take that up with Microsoft.

Don't be scared of all the anti-Windows 8 drama queens. Remember people made the same kinds of dramatic remarks when Microsoft went from DOS to Windows. A lot of people hate change.

I've been using Win 8 as my main Desktop OS and Notebook OS for quite a while.

No problems whatsoever.

I never use Metro as I see no use in it.

I just hit the Desktop button on Metro and I'm in desktop.

You can even get 3rd party programs to totally skip over Metro if desired and get your Start Button back.

If you want to stick to Win 7, your only choices are:

1. Vistalizator (froggie.sk).

2. Upgrade to Ultimate/Enterprise

3. Stick to "Button Control" FS2Crew's.

Win 8 is still your best bet.

Vistalizator is great. Your settings inside windows remain the same (keyboard layout, clock + date setting etc). Only speech recognition and system language is set to English.

Thanks for the advices, I'll take a look at Win8 maybe in an electronic market and test it out.

You need to give yourself a few hours to get used to Metro.

But as mentioned, in day to day stuff, you'll probably never even use Metro unless you're using a tablet.

The desktop is basically the same as Win 7, though. But the other stuff takes some getting accustomed to.

I'd try to find a demo you can play with for a few hours.
