November 26, 201213 yr Hello, some days ago i had a problem with invisible buildings and kindly people helped me, in the FSX Forum, by telling me to add HIGHMEM=1 in GRAPHICS section in my fsx.cfg. I did it and the problem solved. But another problem appeared. Since i added HIGHMEMFIX with Anisotrop and Antialiasing enable in the settings, during my flights a window appear with the title Fatal error occured, and under two options: "Find solution online" and "Program new start" Since i have FSX I always have anisotrop and antialising chosen with no problems. I changed to trilinear and it worked! but the terrain it looks very blurry. What I can do? Thank you of any help Panos Kotzias
November 26, 201213 yr Hi Panos, You need to download and run App Crash View - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html and copy and paste the info in the bottom pane here. You should keep your FSX AF set to Anisotropic for best resolution. Lowering the setting did not fix your FSX. What fixed it was you opening FSX, closing it and then starting up FSX again. It could be your display drivers that need to be uninstalled and reinstalled. But to be sure we need to see what your crash report showed. Hopefully you do not have the ENB series mod installed. November 26, 201213 yr Author Hello Jim,, now this is something very interesting. I made again the flight LSZH - LGAV, around 2 hrs, and this time i didnt look external views as i did in the first flight and had the crash. So I was for the entire flight inside the cockpit and I had no crash. Everything worked like a charm! So what does that mean now? That my computer cannot handle the loading of graphics in external views after some hrs of flight? I know it sounds crazy but with FSX everything is possible Panos Kotzias
November 26, 201213 yr Changing views takes a toll. It has in the past on my system especially in heavy weather while flying a PMDG 737 and while landing at a high resolution airport like KLAX or KSFO or KDCA. I had to adjust some of my settings and was careful when changing views. My fps sometimes went into the single digits and down to 5 fps then suddenly up to 25. Most systems cannot run fsx with sliders up very high and you have to watch display settings too as they will also bring down most systems if set too high. A bad tweak in your FSX.cfg can also bring a system to its knees as some tweaks just don't work. For high resolution and heavy weather areas, I will set up a special config for that and name it something like KSFO Extreme. You can set up special configs for every flight you go on. Just startup FSX, then click on Save. Save your current settings to My Best Settings. Then, click on reset defaults and try your flight with default settings. During the flight, go to the menu/display and move your sliders up or down a notch and continue your flight. If everything goes okay, then you can name that config as LSZHLGAV flight. Hope those options work for you. Long flights usually mean your system is overheating but not all of the time. It's something you'll have to investigate more. That tool I provided in post #2 lets you look at each crash to see what module caused the crash. Unfortunately, in overheating issues, when your system crashes, the module you see that caused the crash may not be the cause but the module being called by FSX just as your system overheated. But if it is the same module showing everytime, then you can safely decide it was the module. Crashes without a faulting module will usually indicate your system is overheating. FSX does not like laptops very well. They don't cool as well as desktops as desktops have all these cooling systems like fans and cpu coolers employed. So you have to treat laptops with kids gloves and keep your settings low and near the default. Hope this helps. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! November 27, 201213 yr I honestly can't give you advice on that as I'm unfamiliar with laptop coolers but see they are pretty popular on Google. They might work but doubt they are going to keep the CPU cooler like in desktops. They aren't that expensive though and probably worth trying at least!
