Cutback and Reduction altitudes

Featured Replies

Hi all! Reposting here due to (surprisingly) no responses on the general forum.

Could anybody explain the difference between cutback and reduction altitude and how it affects their role in the NGX

it's not very clear to me atm

Thank you!

Thrust reduction is change from take-off N1 setting to climb N1. It's used at every flight.

Cutback is a change from TO N1 to cutback thrust. At restore altitude cutback N1 changes to climb N1. Cutback thrust is less then CLB N1. This is one of the noise abatement methods - airplane climbs shallower, but less noisy. And I don't think it's too common procedure.
