I was contacting tower for approach and right clicking to select my change of view when Windows' loading circle-cursor came up and loaded endlessly. I could tell it hung when it took some time. So I CTRL+ALT+DEL and found that FSX hung.

Second thing is that every time I ALT+TAB out of FSX. I can't get into FSX! The screen resolution becomes super low but I can't get into the simulator. I found a way to get into the game.. by pressing ESC immediately (when the whole screen goes blank in a switch to FSX) after clicking FSX to switch back. This brings up the "Continue Flight" or "End Flight" menu options. I will then be able to see the menu and click continue flight and unpause the game when I go back into game.

Third and lastly, I have a problem with my ATC and my panels in my Virtual cockpit. I can't seem to see my cockpit when I'm in VC view mode. And when I bring up the ATC from the "`" key, I can't see what I'm saying, or what the ATC is saying (chat history). I can only hear the tower talking, and have the option to reply. But there's no chat log appearing for either of us. And I can't hear what "The Captain" is saying as well when I select the options to reply to the ATC.

Please help!

You could try a default fsx.cfg, rename your old one and run FSX.

I have had DVA set up some stuff in my FSX too. Will getting a new FSX affect anything?

If you rename your fsx.cfg to fsx.cfg.org or something like that then run fsx it will create a new one. You can always rename back the original later. You'll find you have to re-allow guages and dll's security with the fresh one as you run planes again but that's usually all there is. If it works OK after that then it could be the original is poorly configured.

But awhile back I had no problems.. until recently when I started adding stuff to FSX. Could it be that the new stuff messed up my cfg?

Generally they should be OK but sometimes a set of circumstances can leave something messed up during an install of something or other. The rename/test with fresh fsx.cfg is the easiest thing to try and is the cause of most problems. Or the scenery index. But you may have an issue within the aircraft folder so you must start by eliminating the easiest item. Go through a logical elimination process.

In the second error report it shows dxdiag hanging? Could be a video card issue. Click on the Start button and in the Search bar type Run then look up and click on Run. Once open type dxdiag. Look at the various tabs and make sure there are no errors. If you recently updated your video card drivers I would uninstall them and go back to the previous version or reinstall them. It could be your sound card driver too.

As others have recommended, renaming your fsx.cfg and letting the config rebuild fixes a lot of problems as you could have a bad tweak or the config is corrupted. It has fixed many problems like this in the past.

Best regards,

Jim

I haven't recently update my video card drivers so I doubt that is the issue. I am not using any sound card driver.

I did the CFG thing and it rebuild a new one on its own.. (lost all my controls with it)

Decided to go for a test run and tried to fly from Singapore to Bali. Almost reach the second last waypoint when I clicked 1 to bring up the cockpit panel view, and pressed the Options key to tune the volume of the engines. (Engines killing the ATC voice so much I can't hear him haha..) And it hung again! T_T

I still have this "bug" where I click virtual cockpit but it doesn't show anything.

I'm glad that the ATC is now showing and working properly!

So I still have that two problems. virtual cockpit doesn't show any panels at all. I can hold space and turn to look at the back only to see the wings and the tail but no "body" or no "head". And that the view change is still slightly buggy that it hangs from time to time.

...so you can now rename back your fsx.cfg. hows the logical process of elimination going? have you tried a stock aircraft and another area to fly in with stock scenery. have you tried a clean dll.xml, have you tried a clean exe.xml?

Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

another thing you can try:

C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\SimObjects

try by deleting the folder of the aircraft name you are having trouble with

What's the point of renaming back my fsx.cfg? I thought the whole motive was to have fsx create a new cfg?

One more thing, I do have a dll.xml with about 3-5 stuff that needs to load. But I can't seem to find exe.xml. Could this be an issue?

that's what you could do if the fresh fsx.cfg didn't help, the "whole motive" was to eliminate it

and absent exe.xml means one other thing eliminated, it just runs addons.

Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

So without exe.xml = fsx only run addons? If exe.xml exists? What does that mean?

Jay-Bernie

vafs_status.php?cs=SVAG1089

...you have dll.xml and exe.xml, the first orders FSX to load the .DLLs listed, the second orders FSX to start the .EXEs listed. So to exclude other software from running, in order to eliminate it from the enquiry, you could rename these two files. If exe.xml isn't found then you don't have a file ordering .exe programs to load with FSX.
