December 1, 201213 yr Hi all, I shall be installing Windows 7 Professional 64-bit around the Holidays, and would like to know if I can use my current RC installation, which is currently on a seperate HDD with all my other flightsim items. Or is it advisable to reinstall along with FSX and everything else? My concern is any existing registry entries with XP that may bugger it up if I leave it as is. Cheers, Mike T.
December 1, 201213 yr You may have to get a new key for RC. If your e-mail and user name has not changed you can use the automatic registration system. If those have changed e-mail [email protected] with your old and new user data. You can also include the product code including any "-" to that address. Be sure jdtllc.com is allowed through your PC and ISP spam filters. RC allows a few modified keys for each user. Once registered you will have reset all of your paths with your new disk and folder path assignments. You will need to at first start RC with a right click and select run as admin, a program level privilege not the same as a user level privilege. It is best not to install FS into the Program Files folder as the increased security can cause problems with may apps due to the increased security when apps try to access other apps in a Program Files folder. If you get an error 62 you will probably have to completely reinstall RC from your downloaded copy or CD copy of version 4.3845. If you need a link to redownload request that in the update e-mail. Once RC4 is installed, set up a shortcut to it. Right click on the shortcut and select a property to run as admin. In all your security apps be sure RC is excluded (bypassed from security) as indicated in the pinned error 75 topic. Another issue with Win versions later than XP is that you will have to add certain library run time modules no longer included in Win versions later than XP. Do this prior to using or installing RC. Please read the 713 entire thread for download locations for any .ocx and/or .dll files needed for RC installs and running.
