December 5, 201213 yr Hi, I currently use GEX+UTX and I would like to install all of my ORBX related sceneries. Could someone explain to me how to do this properly without screwing up my FSX install?
December 5, 201213 yr GEX replaces your default textures (a backup is made of your defaults) so it would not be messed up whatsoever as GEX does not show up in the Scenery Library. They will only show up when you fly out of ORBX territory. ORBX has a utility called FTX Central where you can set your scenery to the default or turn on Orbx. When Orbx is turned on, all of the scenery shows up in the Scenery Library. When it is turned off, all the Orbx scenery is removed from the Scenery Library. UTX is best located down low in your scenery library. I have mine just above Propeller Objects. So there is absolutely no possible way your FSX installations can be messed up. December 5, 201213 yr Yes. You will have no conflicts with other scenery. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! December 5, 201213 yr Author Yes. You will have no conflicts with other scenery. Best regards, Jim Just install. Nothing to it. If you get landclass errors, like terrain instead of water, just start UTX configurator once. I seriously appreciate your help on this one... I was fearful I would corrupt my install!
December 5, 201213 yr Commercial Member While commented on earlier that "You will have no conflicts with other scenery", this does not tell the full story. When you install ORBX, they install a custom Terrain.cfg file which is activated when the FTX Central tool is set to ORBX scenery. If you fly outside of the ORBX coverage area while still in the ORBX mode, any scenery which relies on custom entries in the Terrain.cfg will not work correctly. As indirectly noted above, UTX is one such product which makes custom changes to the Terrain.cfg (and which is why it was mentioned above to re-run the UTX Setup Tool if you have landclass related problems like 'land where water should be' as it will re-add the required entries). There are others as well. You may therefore see some issues after installing ORBX if you fly outside their coverage area while FTX Central is in ORBX mode and not default scenery. Jeff
