Crashes selecting a different voice set

Featured Replies

I'm using the demo and when I select a new voice set from the menu and click ok, the application crashes. I can preview the voice set, and it plays fine, but it is when I click ok to accept the voice set that it stops responding. Any thoughts?

Hi,

I assume you're referring to one of the additional voices (not the ones that ship in the main package).

For example, after installing FO Clive, you should get

\MCE installation folder\Voices\Recorded\Copilot\Clive\foClive.dll

and

\MCE installation folder\Voices\Recorded\Copilot\Clive\word.map

The above check confirms Clive voice is installed correctly.

Not sure why it's happening.

As a work around, try waiting a few seconds after the preview is played out, before hitting the OK button, or else select the voice and immediately click OK, without the preview.

If this is only happening with a particular voice, suggest you re-download and re-install it.

Correct, and when I go back in it does seemed to have taken the change in sets, but if I select the original voice set that came with the base package it crashes when clicking ok as well. I'm mid flight at the moment and things seem to work quite well so far. The rest of my sim is another story, and is begging to be redone, but I think at this point I'll likely be a customer in a couple weeks time. I presume any issues I have can be worked out at that time.

Thanks for the reply.

Well, I do still have this issue after a fresh install and successful license purchase. The scenario is the same, even if I don't preview the voice set. As soon as I click OK on a newly selected voice set I get a message saying MCE has stopped responding and I have to restart.

Please check the following...

Windows UAC is disabled.

mce.exe NOT set to run in compatibility mode. Should be run in native mode.

You may also want to set mce.exe to run as admin.

If still having issues, contact support(at)multicrewxp.com and provide a screenshot of the <ABOUT> tab of the user interface. All the system specs info needed will be there.

Thanks

Well, I'm running Windows 8 and without using a reg hack that breaks other things you can't completely disable UAC anymore. I do have the notifications disabled though, which is about as good as you can get in 8.

I do not have any compatibility set for mce.exe, and I believe I have tried running mce as admin, but I will give it another go. Thanks for the response.
