Question for anyone using FS Altitude

Featured Replies

I've been considering getting this but cant seem to find the answer on their website.

At what altitude does the ground scenery (GEX) disappear and the photoreal FS Altitude appear?

Second, do the transitions blend or is it just like a switch going on and off, one second your looking at GEX and then the next photoreal?

I wouldnt mind seeing a video of this in action if anyone has one.

Thanks,

Jim

I have Altitude Europe. I haven't used it for a while as I found that the scenery only looked good when outside of cockpit and looking down at around 45*. I have my own home built 737-800 and don't bother to 'go out side' that often. From memory, say on descent, the default FSX scenery kicks back in at about 3/4000 ft. The 'cone' of default scenery is always directly under your aircraft at all times, but at say 31000ft you simply don't notice it. I think there is an attempt to blend say as mentioned on decent, but for me was pretty noticable, and that was one reason I am not using it. Also, as the developers I believe have said, the product scenery is intended to be viewed from cruise altitude, and can get blurry at low altitudes. I guess it's all in the products Tilte! Don't have GEX, so can't comment on that one.

Hope this helps a little?
