Runway lights issue and strange behaviuor

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I noted this strange behaviour of runway lights when approaching to every airports.

This video (Algiers default fsx) shows the issue, as you can see runway lights are regulary all illuminated when when I have runway in sight, but when I arrive near runway the lights lit on again more intensely, see the green threshold lights that lits up more intensely, seems like the lights feel aircrafts distance or a specific radius. Like the lights lit up near a specif distance from the aircraft. However video render better what I mean, especially from minute 1:40

This issue is stronger in day light, see the attached screen. Here I am in Cairo Intl, it's a freeware scenery here on avsim, but the problem is not related to scenery, also in default scenery it happens. As you can see as long as I move the trike the runway lights lit on:

Do you know ho to solved this issue?

Many thanks id advance

I recognize this issue and have the same. I fear it's just one of those FSX "normal system behavior" things...

But if a solution exists, I would love to hear about it.

So, no other user noticed it or how to fix it?

In your opinion the option RejectSmallPartRadius=X can play a significant role or not?

Not sure what your problem is but if you want to tone it down you can load another halo.bmp do you have REX one of your addons such as this has loaded a different runway light. (halo.bmp) there are other lights to pick from.

Hi Richard, my issue is evident in the video i posted above. See when i am near the runway, all lights are on, but when i arrive near the runway lights become more intense and seem to lit up again. If you try to with SLEW mode you can see this issue, put your aircraft at a certain height aove the runway when dusk or night and enter slew mode and move your aircraft, you will see the lights changing intensity when you move back or forward the runway.

Yes, I have REX, is there a fix to pick from using another runway lights?

Riccardo install - landing light texture:neutral - its in your rex menu that what I am using hope this helps. Keep in mind this texture effects other lights too like your city and highway lights if you are using UTX night lighting or ExpeirienceX lights fyi
