Gulfstream IV & Gulfstream V for FS2004 or FSX?

Featured Replies

Does anyone plan on doing a G-IV or G-V for flight simulator? I remember a few years ago there were some promising screenshots of a G-IV under development...but have not heard anything since.

What became of those projects?

Have the authors abondoned the field altogether?

Are they still under development?

I just want to know...

Hi Bmaack,

I'm not 100% certain - but - I seem to recall a post where Gulfstream had some draconian licensing policy where you couldn't make a model of their product...

Scott

ok...right now we have a few models in flightsim...albeit they are AI versions, and they have not been pulled or as far as I have heard any request from the manufacturer to do so. In addition, If I am not mistaken there were a few freeware versions made as well...the Mike Stone Model & Rick Salazars model, though not quality builds, but still available for download.

I think that their licensing policy is more directed at the profiteers - the payware modelers, and that would make perfect sense, where they would not want a third party, someone else to profit from their design...(I have not read the licensing policy, nor do I know what it contains)... just trying to rationalize it what you portended..

why do you say mike's is not a quality build?

he didn't do VC's, but the models were always fantastic. these type of comments are the reason he quit developing.

That was a poor choice of words on my part....Mike's models are great...fly beautifully, but we can agree they are low LOD models...and that is what I was referring to... I could care less if a model has a VC or not. It was not intended to offend any one or take a swipe at any developer...which is apparently the way it came accross, for that I apologize.

Hi bmaack,

I too have been searching for a good G IV or V model. I haven't been able to find any such thing as of yet. I do know that Gulfstream has copyrighted certain parts of their aircraft in particular the general shape. For example I believe the shape of their windows are copyright protected and they are not allowed to be reproduced without Gulfstreams permission. Something they won't give as I understand.

I work with Gulfstreams a lot and really love the airplanes. I have since been trying to find a nice model but to no avail. If they look nice they fly like Cessna 172's and if they fly nice they look like a beat up Gulfstream with none of the clean cuts and unique features of the aircraft. I hope however to develop a in-depth G IV panel. I haven't begun much work but I do have a lot of information and resources on it and that means the work should move along fairly quickly once I begin work.

Good Day,

Engjell Berisha

That is a shame...it is one of my all time favorite aircrafts...smh
