Hi John,

You only FSX Deluxe with SP1 installed. Is there a reason why you did not install SP2? SP2 contains more bug fixes and FSX optimizations. You can download SP2 here in the AVSIM Library.

There were no faulting modules and the exception code (0x0000005) indicates you had a Memory_Access_Violation. This is pretty common with every crash as FSX is calling for a texture, a video display file, gauge, an effect, and it cannot find it so FSX crashes. This can also happen if your sliders are set too high, your system is overheating, wrong memory configurations in the BIOS, or CPU voltages are wrong (too high or too low). An inadequate power supply unit will create a crash too.

Sometimes uninstalling the latest SP installed (in your case SP1) then reinstalling it will fix a problem.

You might want to download and run AppCrashView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html - and see if there are anymore details regarding the crash. I need to see the modules loaded too and this program interprets Microsoft's error report (WER) and shows it in layman terms.

Best regards,

Jim

Hi Jim,

thanks for getting back to me. I uninstalled Acceleration just to see if FSX would crash without it. I reinstalled SP2, and just got another CTD. I looked at some of your previous post, and don't see any issues with Memory (used CPU-Z).

I am going to try to turn down sliders, but the idea of getting this new system was to try to run FSX with most sliders to the left. When it does not crash, FSX is very fluid with everything maxed out (including PMDG NGX), would be a shame to turn things down :(

Here is the report from AppcrashView

Thanks again!!!

but the idea of getting this new system was to try to run FSX with most sliders to the left.

Of course you mean to the right but I understand what you are saying. FSX/Acceleration will run great on your system with all sliders to the right. It's just when you start installing addons that things start getting messy. Look at the recommended settings for the programs you bought and they will not suggest everything to the right. Moving them one notch to the left from the max in some places will do wonders and it will not hurt any of the eye-candy or graphics you will be getting. Autogen is the biggest FPS killer. Having it on normal is appropriate as you won't see much at 20,000 feet and above. You need to bring your sliders back a little or close to the default just to see if this is really the problem causing your crashes.

I uninstalled Acceleration just to see if FSX would crash without it. I reinstalled SP2, and just got another CTD.

This is certainly strange as your OP indicates you only have SP1 installed (version: 10.0.61355.0). Now you are saying you uninstalled Acceleration and then reinstalled SP2. This is probably your problem. You do not have FSX properly installed and this could be the problem as FSX is looking for a certain version of a .dll, effect, module, texture and it's not there. So it crashes. You cannot install SP2 on top of Acceleration and you must completely uninstall SP2 and run a registry cleaner before installing Acceleration. Acceleration contains both SP1 and SP2 so I would uninstall SP2 first, then SP1, run a registry cleaner, then install Acceleration. This may or may not work as your installation could be corrupted past fixing as easy as I have stated.

Best regards,

Jim

Hi Jim,

Once again, thank you for your help, greatly appreciated!! I did reinstall SP2 and pulled back on the OC a bit. I am down to 4.1GHZ and it seems that FSX is now running without CTD.

I have move sliders to the right (except for AI), and I am very pleased with what I am seeing. Running the NGX with FTX England, I still get decent fluidity, I don't really look @ the FPS. I will try to educate myself a bit more on OC, and see if I can push things a bit more without affecting the memory.

On a side note, I am also running P3D and no CTD from day1. I am not getting great fluidity and the FPS are awful, but I am sure I need to do a bit more tuning and will be happy!

Happy holidays!

John
