Featured Replies

I have found that FSX fun fast on first time use But slow so slow when I tried to run FSX on the 2nd use.

Does anyone know why it is happening?

Thanks

What are you referring to by "first time use" and "on the 2nd use" ?

It's not a term w.r.t. FSX that I am familiar with.

Did you DEFRAG your Drive(s) after installing FSX ?

Do you mean that you load FSX, fly an aircraft, close FSX, then open it again, WITHOUT REBOOTING your PC, and on the second opening of the program, it performs poorly?

I have heard of this happening before, and it may be caused by the fact that FSX is not releasing all of its system resources and files when it closes.

When you close FSX, even after the program icon disappears from the task bar, it MAY not be fully shut down in the background. Might want to wait a couple of minutes after closing FSX before trying to re-start it again. Or, reboot the PC before running FSX again, which will insure that your system is reinitialized properly.

Now strangely enough, on my system, just the opposite happens. If I start FSX, close it, then restart it again, it loads much more quickly the second time, and actually performs better on the second run. I think this may have something to do with the way Windows 7 indexes files in memory.

Do you have a lot of add-on scenery or airports? What version of Windows are you using... XP, Vista or Win 7? is it a 32 or 64 bit installation, and how much RAM does your computer have?

I've not yet tried Windows 8, so not sure what may be causing the problem... i.e. if it is being caused by Windows 8 itself. I know others have reported that FSX runs well under 8...

Check event viewer and see if it there is a dll file or something hanging after you have shut down FSX.
