December 17, 201213 yr Hi Some are having this issue with PFE, where connect to FSX, "PFE intitialising" is displayed, then PFE closes itself exits totally. In PFE forums, thread of same issue never got resolution, as much as i observed anyway. Anybody knows if a fix was found for this. I previously used RC4, and i must say PFE is far much more functional and lively with the voice sets etc, but on my PC in this early days FSX is more stable than PFE. PFE simply crashes a lot. It makes RC4 seem as stable as stone, but dated. RC4 hardly ever crashed on me. Not trying to start thread comparing both products, just thought i'd put things in perspective. Really liking the taxi gauge/voice guidance thing in PFE, only if i could get PFE to stop crashing. Like someguy said on one of the forums where same issue as mine found no resolution, he said, its a shame the standard of software for many FSX addons, its driving people away from the hobby. Maybe we should all go play Software crash avoidannce simulation game. There isnt enough money in the business to raise the standard of the products to a professional level. Then maybe its time for folks to back a given developer, instead of spreading money around various addons, where each does not really do the job right, so we have to combine them along with the flaws from each. Without the crashes PFE would be much better choice for me by far, not tried voxatc yet though, its next if cant get PFE to STOP CRASHING. Back on topic, any ideas to fix this issue, already purchased the extra voice sets, but it crashes before i can even say clearance!!!! Seriously, name and shame unstable/bad products, or kill the hubby cheers

You remove any of the MSV's from the Add/Remove program and even FSX will fail to start up. The MSV's are used by developers to make sure their product is installed properly. Make sure you have MSV Redistributable C++ 2005 w/SP1 installed. PFE was made for previous versions of flight simulator and upgraded for use in FSX. It should be installing the proper version of MS Visuals. In any case, here's a possible solution from the support forum website... http://www.ocs-support.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=439 Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! December 17, 201213 yr Hi about the link, i think its same one i googled , and it ends with no resolution That's correct but Dave March provides procedures on how to fix the problem. This is no 'magic bullet' to fix it. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! December 18, 201213 yr Author That's correct but Dave March provides procedures on how to fix the problem. This is no 'magic bullet' to fix it. Best regards, Jim I have made two threads about this on PFE forum, but for some reason, i dont see the threads, so i can only assume the new threads need to be approved being being visible, not reassuring. In any case so far no help from PFE forum on this one. As i cant even see the support threads i am starting to request help to fix the issue. funny thing is there is also a thead there on PFE forum, on tips for making the product more popular, surely what could make a product more popular than it working ok, and where its not, fix it, then lots more will buy it. Anyway looks like new threads need approval on PFE forum since cant see my posts, make of that what you will.
December 18, 201213 yr I understand your frustrations but his solution on the link I provided appears to be the correct solution. Did you download the accumulative update to the product, turn off anti-virus and disable your UAC, then reinstall the product? This is an old program developed back in the XP days (ProFlight 2000 Emulator). It should still work very good in FSX but his new installer needs to make sure the proper version of Microsoft Visual C++ that is used to make sure his product is properly installed. If it doesn't see it, his installer should install the proper version but that sometimes doesn't work correctly especially with all the security and anti-virus programs running in the background. Most likely it is the MSV 2005 but he could have updated that to the 2008 version for FSX installs. Dave also provides a direct e-mail link to him at that link I provided which I personally would use if I had the problems you have been encountering. To turn off UAC, click on the start button and type User Access Controls in the search box then look up and click on How to disable/enable UAC (or something like that). I would follow his instructions and uninstall the product, run a freeware registry cleaner like CCleaner (my suggestion), restart your computer (my suggestion again), then reinstall the product. Once the installation is complete, install the cumulative update as he suggested. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! December 18, 201213 yr Read the manuals and the installation procedures carefully. Too often people rush installations. PFE needs careful installation. It does work so don't blame PFE.
