December 20, 201213 yr Hey Word Not Allowed and other AVSIM members: I just got my Logitech G13 keypad today - and quickly wanted to ask you do you use FSUIPC to assign key programming for the G13, or the Logitech Software? I particularly want to use the G13 to control EZDok so I can have a LOT of different camera views, plus use the mini- D Pad/Joystick on the G13 to do fast zooming and panning as you have written here before. Someone else said it can be setup to be a nosewheel tiller controller, but I think the fast zooming and panning in EZDok is much more important. Any tips on setting up to do all of that would be VERY appreciated, thank you in advance! I know "LINDA" can NOT control the G13 because the G13 reports as a KEYBOARD not a JOYSTICK to Linda- I got that info from Guenselli at Linda support. I also am thinking of having the G13 control the PMDG NGX doors open/close if that is even possible. I can live without the doors as my MCP Combo does that now with the user-assignable keys. In truth, it's best NOT to use the G13 within Linda, as fast panning in Linda can flood Linda's buffers causing her to STOP WORKING and requiring a LINDA RESTART (Source: Guenseli, Linda support) Stupid question #2: How can I make the Ultimate Traffic 2 AI airplanes use the normal active runways at various airports? Most times the traffic is departing in THE WRONG DIRECTION, this especially a problem at KLAX and at KSAN in California. For some reason UT2 is making departing traffic take off from the west and in real life most times its the opposite direction at BOTH San Diego and Los Angeles International. Third and final stupid question: Many times when I have completed pushback using GSX in the PMDG 737NGX and I begin to taxi in the alleyway, I am blocked by a pushback tug which is stopped dead in front of me on the gold taxi line! This is NOT the tug that pushed MY plane back- and it looks like an FSX ground vehicle. I use GSX and have all FSX vehicles turned off except for boats. The pushback tug refuses to move, pushing CTL-SHIFT-A doesn't 'zap' it... I know there was some kind of AI traffic zapper program but can't recall where I obtained it or what it was called. Do you happen to know? At present I must wildly swerve to miss the tug, or else run over it which is a buzz-killer. Happy Holidays, Word Not Allowed! R. December 20, 201213 yr Author Thanks so much Word Not Allowed for the insights. I was up till the wee hours last night, and solved almost everything- but the zoom problem. I will work on it further. I discovered that G13 indeed uses LUA, much like LINDA does. I configured the joystick with Macro button 2 (M2) so that on that screen the joystick acts as a nosewheel tiller via FSUIPC. It's wonderful! YOu can see the tiller moving in the NGX when you move the little mini joystick, makes taxiing much more fun as opposed to steering only with the foot pedals. I don't know the codes for the doors on the NGX, I shall dig around for that...I can control them from my VRi combo2 MCP user-defined keys through LINDA, but that's not nearly as cool as getting G13 to do it. I like the Macro recorder in LINDA, I used it to not only START GSX, but I went one step further, I have a key sequence recorded to auto-start GSX, select Boarding, or Pushback, or refuel, and so on, so each GSX function is assigned to a G-key via a recorded key macro! Works GREAT. Much nicer to hit one key and have the plane board, push, etc. This thing is a very cool addition, for a small amount of money! Thanks again, Word Not Allowed, for putting me onto the track of this! Happy New Year! R. December 20, 201213 yr Author Well, cool! Nice that I could have been of a bit help! You are a real help to so many of us here on Avsim and across the web. I admire your generosity in sharing your expertise and experience. On behalf of myself and a whole lot of other folks, THANK YOU, Word Not Allowed! :Applause: R. December 21, 201213 yr Author NEW question: With the G13- how can I configure for zoom in/out if I have all hardware controllers disabled with FSX? I would like to make a MACRO to emulate rolling the mouse wheel forward and backward, because that is the ZOOM function in EZDok. I would love to set up a pair of keys on the G13 that would fulfill that. I do NOT want to assign key presses within FSX as I have all CONTROLLERS disabled in FSX (I control everything with FSUIPC or LINDA or VRiSim- but NO hardware is controlled by FSX itself- thus I can't do the way Word Not Allowed suggested of assigning the zoom within FSX and then assigning those key presses to the G13). December 22, 201213 yr Author I can't wait to try this, Word Not Allowed! This looks like it might be just what I'm hoping for! You're THE BEST! Robert. R. December 23, 201213 yr Author Well, I'm having trouble. I can get the G13 to control the cameras in EZDok, using MOUSE assignments to the mini-Joystick on the G13, BUT, and this is my big #1 problem, I cannot get a decently fast ZOOM IN/ ZOOM OUT usinig the G13. I used to control all the EZDok cameras with my Hotas Warthog Joystick, and it works OK, BUT if I do a lot of panning with the WARTHOG, I find that LINDA will crash due to flooded data inputs and require restarting. So my "goal" is to have the G13 take over the EZDok duties completely and NOT USE the Hat Switch on the Warthog Joystick to do panning and the other mini-hat switch on the Warthog to control zoom in / zoom out (it does work, but its WAY SLOW as Word Not Allowed has said). I want to be able to zoom quickly and smoothly in/out for filming purposes! Anyone??? PS: I have all the keycodes turned OFF in FSX because they conflict with EZDok. Likewise all the control surfaces/devices in FSX are OFF and controlled though FSUIPC. I have failed miserably to get FSUIPC to control zooming. I can make the G13 emulate mouse wheel rotation (which is how zoom is controlled in EZDok) but its jerky and slow. Looking for help, please... R. December 23, 201213 yr Author Simple question to this is do you want a ZOOM function (change zoom factor from 0.something to 50x...) or do you simply want to move in/out (=chase distance)? So far I have failed to accomplish either function properly. If you are moving in the object is going to appear bigger (as it would if you zoomed in). I would love to be able to have a flying camera view so I could go all over the airport with or without my plane and show what's going on (when I build videos). There must be something simple and I'm missing it... I understand that the "joystick" on the G13 can function DIGITALLY as a "D-PAD" with two axis' of movement, or it can also function ANALOG? I don't know. i still love the G13 though! it's GREAT! Does anyone know how to program the G13 to control the DOORS on the PMDG 737NGX? Since those run off the FMC, I don't know how to program them... I can run the doors off my VRinsight MCP Combo 2 user-programmable switches though (via LINDA). My 'dream' would be an 8-way hat switch function off the mini-joystick on the G13, but I don't think that's possible. I would love to pan and zoom all off the G13 mini-joystick. That would be my ultimate! R. Scott McDonald B738/L Information is anecdotal only-without guarantee & user assumes all risks of use thereof. Click here for my YouTube channel
December 24, 201213 yr Author Donald, on the above pics you have *everything* you need to make the function work properly. But if it doesn't work for you buddy, sorry, don't know how else to help. Concerning analog movement, maybe. It can emulate a joystick, and be recognized as axes, but EZCA can't use "slower-faster" movement, as on an analog joystick to my knowledge. The movements in EZCA are all one speed, you can vary it through the menu though. And concerning NGX doors, lol man... assign a button in NGX; assign that button on the G13; done. What's so complicated about that? Thank you Word Not Allowed. I will work on this further! Your help is appreciated! Happy Holidays Bud! Robert McDonald R.
