August 4, 200421 yr Been on AOL now 4 years- - on BB(288/576) for about 15 months with them . I can also still use Dial up simoultaneously( useful as wife has own PC).Never had any problems with AOL at all- unlimited service - no getting bounced off.I was once connected for 18hrs straight of on a transpacific flight on VATSIM - no problems.Should you ever have any problems - perhaps one of the best things is that the AOL helpline is FREE.I've not had to use it for myself but did so for a neighbour who was experiencing difficulties - that turned out to be the BT line - point is I was on the phone for 30+ minutes and it cost nothing.Dave
August 4, 200421 yr I too went for Plusnet in February this year when my exchange was activated for ADSL. It's been great with no problems and very good download speeds. I went for the Home Surf service at
August 4, 200421 yr Hi WilliamIn February I switched to ECLIPSE who provide a very good reliable and fast ADSL connection called FLEX (you get a 512 connection which can be "flexed" up to 1MB whenever you like therefore saving money and bandwidth (
August 4, 200421 yr Like Bruce I have been on Blueyonder provided by Telewest for maybe a couple of years now. Started out with 512Mb but fairly recently Blueyonder brought their prices down for new customers and gave all existing customers a 50% increase in bandwith to compensate. The difference between broadband and a 56K dial-up is unbelievable and the extra bandwith makes a noticable increase in speed - typically around the 80kbps range now. Also online 24/7, doesn't tie up the phone line and provides a very good firewall to boot. Have never needed to call the help desk but they do provide a good setup cd with lots of FAQ's and solutions to problems that may occur (should mention of course that the initial setup is done by the provider who in fact asked if I wanted to provide the connection on any other pc's?). At that time I didn't but have since managed to network the connections between 2 pc's using the setup cd with no problems...means both pc's can connect/download at the same time while the wife or daughter can use the phone!!!!(there seems to be one of them on it all the time LOL).As someone remarked to me "You gotta love broadband!"Well worth it IMHO.
August 4, 200421 yr Will,Been with Plusnet for over a year. Excellent. Unlimited e-mail addresses. Worldwide e-mail if you travel (via the web mail) or just configure Outlook. Fast too, and unlimited. Also heard the BT are going to limit bandwidth/download allowance.KFD
August 4, 200421 yr Yeah, I'll keeping away from BT, and still Plusnet seems a good choice to go for.http://www.onlinesimulationsolutions.com/sigs/wdosssig.jpg
