August 3, 200421 yr Looking for some assistance. What do you guys out there recommend as a AI flight generator?Ultimate TrafficMY TrafficFS TrafficWhich should I spend my money on?
August 4, 200421 yr Has to be Ultimate Traffic 2004 - miles better than the other two - have been using v happily since it came out.CheersAdam
August 4, 200421 yr Hi,I can't give you a direct comparison--someone else can help you more there. (You might do a search of the forum--people's views vary on this question.)But I can say from experience that Ultimate Traffic works very well. It produces a full range of up-to-date flightplans and has a fairly complete bevy of AI models and paints. (All this is excellent for commercial traffic.) And the software is very simple and dependable to use. It's a wonderful piece of work.BTW. I'd recommend you get Markus' GA-Traffic (it's here at the AVSIM library). This is a splendid piece of freeware that allows you to set up world-wide General Aviation traffic. First class all the way. You can use it to complement Ultimate Traffic and produce a densely populated AI world--all pretty automatically.Of course, once you get hooked on AI...Best wishes,Mike --Mike MacKuen
August 4, 200421 yr Where is the best place to buy ultimate traffic? Also is there a demo or time trial one?x:)~

August 5, 200421 yr Hello everyone,I personally think it is much more important how the AI birds look than where they are going, so I exclusively use AI Aardvark and FSP aircraft and roll my own traffic. But there is one AI traffic program out there that I think is tremendously overlooked, and that is the TrafficDatabaseBuilder shipping with Microsoft's TrafficToolbox SDK. IMHO, it leaves all third party solutions, including the payware ones, far in its wake. Since it is so little known (it keeps amazing me that everyone thinks you need Traffic Tools to roll your own traffic), let me list a couple of its more important features. And I'm obviously not trying to sell it, since it's free ... ;) 1. Has a quasi-random AI auto scheduler. This means that unless you want to, you don't have to manually enter a single flight plan; everything is automatic and free of effort.2. Can use manually entered flight plans (like Traffic Tools), and any mix between auto generated and manually entered flight plans. This means that you can, for instance, enter those routes you specifically want as manual routes, and populate the rest of the world with auto generated traffic. You can also use, e.g., Project AI plans for all airliners, and let the GA traffic be auto scheduled. Or you could use Project AI for most airliners, but add some auto generated airline traffic to add some variety and have some unusual planes show up at unusual locations every now and then.3. Makes optimum use of the runway, parking and ATC features. The auto scheduler contains a database (fully editable) of all airports, their runways and parking spots, and the capabilities of all aircraft configured for AI traffic (their min and max range, altitude, cruise speed etc). This information is used to schedule traffic such that all parking spots are used most of the time, with a new plane arriving shortly after one departs, but without any over scheduling of the parking spots. It also ensures that traffic is evenly spread out, minimizing idle time or traffic surges. The reason why this is important is that the ATC in fs2k2/2k4 can't really handle high traffic levels very well, resulting in endless go arounds and aircraft vanishing after waiting too long on the ground. Using real life airline schedules, while seemingly realistic, will swamp the ATC, highlight its shortcomings and make the over all experience less realistic, IMHO. The auto scheduler makes sure ATC stays busy, but not too busy.4. Very easy to add new planes. You 'declare' them in the database and tell the auto scheduler to use them, and the next time you compile they will be there. Removing aircraft that turned out to not fly well or look good is just as easy.5. Very easy to take into account changes in airport parking spots or to get traffic to appear at newly made airports (including fictional ones). Has a
