I am not sure if I am asking in the right forum. Scoot me to where-ever I need to be if not.

I have watch a few videos trying to figure this out. What is shimmering?

I am doing a fresh install of FSX and testing the default flight after each addon install (and restarting after each) . Also I have tweaked my config file some. *see below

What I see (on an eyefinity 3 screen) now is the ground textures kind of ripple or maybe swimming. Not a lot but some. Hard to describe.

Is this what shimmering is?

Most Sliders maxed.

And 30 fps Frame limit and holding fine.

Config tweaks:

[DISPLAY]

UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=30

[DISPLAY]

WideViewAspect=True

[TERRAIN]

LOD_RADIUS=6.500000

[GRAPHICS]

TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096

[DISPLAY]

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40

[GRAPHICS]

HIGHMEMFIX=1

[JOBSCHEDULER]

AffinityMask=14

[bUFFERPOOLS]

Poolsize=0

So far just installed:

FSX

Acceleration

FSUIP

Shade

UT2

Rex

Opus

AccuFeel

Fs Water Configurator

Track IR

No controllers yet

I see it mostly on objects rather than terrain. Look at airport (mainly addon airport) structures on approach. For me, when using a lcd tv as a monitor, the shimmering is awful. On a computer monitor it's there but much more subtle.

So a rippling of the ground doesn't sound exactly like what I consider to be standard FSX 'shimmering'c

Thanks Rob,

I guess another way to describe what I am experiencing is I get split second splits on the windscreen frame while panning my view. It only happens to the frame and ground when panning.

I have many more addons installed now and going for my first real flight....we'll see what happens.
