December 28, 201213 yr 1. Got up a couple of mornings ago and discovered that my computer started up relative to fans running, but monitors displayed disconnected cables and I never progressed to bootup or any other steps to the startup. The computer just runs continually (fans), but there is no other indication that it exists. 2. Disconnected all users, (CDRoms, Harddrives, etc.) Same thing. 3. Removed Video cards, Mouse, and Keyboard. Same thing (No progression after power was restored relative to error beeps or anything else, but fans are running) 4. Replaced Power Supply. Same thing. 5. Against all the rules, I read the Motherboard Manual. Discovered that the "MemOK" LED was steady lighted, and that the manual said that this was a memory problem with several possible causes, including that no memory was installed thanks to an LED0 and LED1 numbered error code of "55".. 5.There are four memory slots paired for dual channel as follows: A1 and B1. Also A2 and B2 (which are the recommended slots for two sticks), and where my memory was firmly installed. Made the following discovery: If a memory stick is installed in either A1 or A2 (Recommended single stick installationslot), I have the problem. If a stick is installed in either B1 or B2, my problem goes away, the MemOK Led is extinguished, and the computer seems to work normally with no problem (Of course I lose 4GB of memory thanks to removing the stick formally installed in A2). 6. I tried both sticks (2 each, 4 GB) through the this scenario, and get the same results. Either stick works fine in B1 or B2, and neither works in A1 or A2. This would indicate to me that the sticks are still ok. 7. Conclusion: Can this be anything but a failure in the Motherboard on the two slots that don't work, A1 and A2?. I guess I am just wishing for reassurance before I order another motherboard, but I find it difficult logically to suspect anything else. I will let her run with the single stick for a while before I do anything else. Ironically, I see little difference in performance (with full blown FSX). Any ideas? Respectfully: RTH Edit: Note that this problem just raised its ugly head. The system has been running flawlessly for many months, well over a year if this old memory remembers when the upgrade was performed. December 29, 201213 yr Before going to far with this, please check all USB ports and make sure there is no damage to any of them, ie. 2 pins touching!!! I ran into this and replace a mobo for nothing. Good luck
