December 30, 201213 yr Recently moved from rc4 to PFE, and for the most part, wow what an improvement. But compared to rc4 pfe with all the extra ambiance and superb taxi guidance it brings, is much more complex of a hassle in certain cases. My issue is fact that the ATC is fast (some report issues of PFE atc being 2* speed in certain cases) So looks like its either a bug that comes and goes or the normal speed too fast for me. In RC4 this was no issue, you can control atc voice speed, and even then the pop window also retains usefull info, in PFE you dont have this, sometimes the PFE pop up closes before you even had time to read the full instructions, So you end up pressing repeat ATC intructions key too often. Generally PFE atc speed is no real issue, till approach, where it gives you landing runway, and intial heading to vectors in about couple of microseconds. The result is , Pause Repeat Pause Repeat Crash. So currently my PFE flights are really much better than any rc4 flights i ever had by a long mile, until approach, where i struggle to keep up. Its just too fast and pop does not help either, closes too fast also. There are couple of posts in PFE forum on this, including one from me. Not looking for tips on how to keep up with unrealistically fast ATC delivery, but possible fixes such using fsuipc to control when the popup instruction window closes. Would be good to be able to keep that window open longer so i can read what heading or runway or altitude i am give. Till then my verdict on PFE and RC4 is that, PFE flight is way much better than RC4 till you get to approach, you probs just better off ignoring the ATC and finding your own way to runway based on current wind. Still staying with PFE for a while, try to fix this, else see if ProATC is walking yet I have closed caption enabled in PFE which keeps the instruction window open a a little longer, but on approach ATC is virtually usellesly too fast. Ok for single short instruction, but multiple, its a big fail, cant keep up.
December 30, 201213 yr You can add a monitor to your computer which will add a screen that will hold about 10 or 12 previous messages listed at one time. When the messages become more than can be held on the screen it will scroll the oldest message off and add the latest to the list. I also move my Taxi gauge to this screen which makes everything easier to keep track of. I really like this. This is not a networked computer monitor, you add the monitor to your FSX computer. I do not network PFE. It works great. I use one of my older monitors that I had and was no longer using. It tells how to do this in the manuel. I do network 2 other computers for REX, Plan G, and actually the Remote Radio PFE application, and PFE Display.exe. I also keep a pad at my computer that is preconfigured to the information that I know I am going to get so that is quick to record the information in the form. I am sure that in the real plane they get the info fast and have a system of recording it while flying. Lynn Lynn Fisher

Thanks, D Mach from PFE just replied to my post there, refering to the stuff you mention. Its supposed to be page 99 section 8.56 in the manual. Looks like just the thing i was loookigng. If this works, PFE is looking good. Will go RFM for now. That said PFE usabiltiy could do with some degree of cleaning up, so many functions hidden away under the hood not making it to the default GUI. Thanks for the help
December 30, 201213 yr I found: - XPACK enhancer improves things a lot. Dont go back to originals, because phrases will be skipped. Install with or without and stick to it. - Enter right profile parameters in the PF2000 compiler, I managed even to have an almost continuous decend in my Lockheed Constellation. (WOW!, supports propliners) - Use the SAY AGAIN function of you mis something, and use the verbose method, to read what is been saying untill you get better without it. - Set on pause when you leave the sim, you might miss an instruction. (if using the copilot answering.. )
December 30, 201213 yr Author Ok tried the verbose log thing, looking like just the stuff i was looking for, a nice window with options to sort out font sizes etc. cool problem solved. PFE is looking great, but wount recommend it at all if you got just 1 screen. cal me lazy but , i dont see how PFE could be used wihtout this instructiuon log window on second screen, So thats it, I am on PFE till RC5 is released. Thanks for the help gents I found: - XPACK enhancer improves things a lot. Dont go back to originals, because phrases will be skipped. But the xpack+ the free addon to that (cant remeber what is called) both give the voice 100% improvment. Thanks
December 30, 201213 yr With verbose I ment, you can have (if FSUIPC is installed) a text complement on screen of the spoken text. I still have to try without the copilot and answer myself, but in the lockheed its sometimes a handfull.. glad he is there to help.
