Some of you may be aware that TruScenery has made available Ortho scenery for the greater Helsinki area at no cost to you. This scenery includes objects created with OSM2XP, and looks pretty nice.

 

Some time ago I purchased the Malmi airport scenery from this company and was quite pleased with it. I then added the ortho scenery, after which I thought, "why not get their Hyvinkaa airport as well, and then I would have a complete circuit to fly with nice-looking airports at each end and nice scenery in between."

 

Well, when I purchased the Hyvinkaa airport, I discovered that it offered winter textures, which some of you may have noticed in the promo video. Unfortunately, if you use the greater Helsinki ortho scenery you have to disable the ortho scenery that comes with Hyvinkaa. I wrote to TruScenery and asked if it would be possible to place the winter textures over the larger ortho, and Olbo Laine of TruScenery answered very quickly, I might add, that no, it would not be possible to do that, but he did add, and I quote, "But I have good news for you, we will post soon winter textures for helsinki-ortho and malmi airport scenery after the New Year.Stay tuned."

 

So, I guess that is good news, even if it's only a small portion of the world. Maybe, FlashIsisMaya, it will satisfy a little bit your craving for winter textures until such time as Laminar gets around to providing them for us over a wider area.
