January 2, 201313 yr Hi Guys, My sincere apologies if this is not the correct forum. as my problem doesn't result in a direct CTD as such. Nevertheless, it stops FSX from working and necessitates a complete re-load. I've been flying with FSX Gold edition for some years now, with no problems whatsoever. Recently however, I gave my self a present of an updated computer, and loaded FSX Gold, ensuring a default flight between installing all of my my usual add-on aircraft. All has been well for some time, however quite recently, when clicking the usual program exit button at the top right of the screen, FSX esits, but then a message box appears advising that Microsoft Flight Simulator has stopped working, and giving the options to either check online for a solution, or close the program. As I wanted to exit the program anyway, I really didn't pay much attention to this until recently, when descending to land after a 10 hour flight, the screen suddenly went pale, as if fogged over, and the message re-appeared. There was no option but to exit the program, and re-load. Now, I get this message every time I exit FSX, even after loading an aircraft in free flight, but not flying. Reading some of the posts in this forum, excessive cpu core temperatures was given as a possible cause, so I downloaded a monitoring program, however, they all seem fine at between 36 and 50 Celcius. The fault informatiion section of the message gives the following :- Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: fsx.exe Application Version: 10.0.61637.0 Application Timestamp: 46fadb14 Fault Module Name: ai_player.dll Fault Module Version: 10.0.61637.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 46fadb57 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00037489 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 0a9e Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Additional Information 3: 0a9e Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 This looks like a fault with ai_player.dll, but can anyone make sense of this problem and help me find a solution. January 2, 201313 yr looks like a fault with ai_player.dll, but can anyone make sense of this problem Your temps are okay and your system is actually underclocked IMHO but we need to fix this problem first. Never heard of this dll causing a CTD but a crash can occur when you shut down FSX. Have you been flying in Orbx/FTX PNW territory? January 3, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the reply Jim. The crash happened on a flight from Hong Kong to London, with the PMDG 747, but as I say every time I exit FSX normally I get this message box saying FSX has stopped working. I don't have ORBX installed. I've renamed my fsx.cfg file to allow the program to rebuild a new one, but there is no improvement. I was thinking last night that recently I installed My Traffic X for increased realism but after seeing some planes parked half way into buildings and sets of wheels running along taxiways by themselves, I removed this. The "realism" just wasn't there. It was after that that the problem started - which might tie in with the ai_player file being at fault. I did a search for ai_player.dll on my system but can't locate this. Perhaps it was removed by My Traffic X. Could this be the root cause ? Ron Ron McConnell
January 3, 201313 yr I did a search for ai_player.dll on my system but can't locate this. Perhaps it was removed by My Traffic X. Could this be the root cause ? Most likely yes. It is an FSX file and it should be located in your main FSX directory. It was updated in SP2 and Acceleration. It is not installed by MyTrafficX. MyTrafficX would not uninstall this dll as it is not part of that program. You might be able to get it back by reinstalling Acceleration or SP2 depending on what you have installed. Best regards, Jim I was thinking last night that recently I installed My Traffic X for increased realism but after seeing some planes parked half way into buildings and sets of wheels running along taxiways by themselves, I removed this. There are fixes for these problems. What version of MTX did you have installed? It most likely was not the cause of MTX but of the scenery you have installed. Aircraft parked in buildings indicate an AFCAD problem and you had your MTX installation located too high in your Scenery Library. MTX has its own AFCADS so that the aircraft can takeoff and land successfully at airports. If MTX is located at the top of the Scenery Library (or near the top), the AFCADS will trump any addon scenery below it. I have my MTX located just above Propellor Objects or I go into the MyTrafficX/Scenery folder and rename all of the AFCADS of airports I have installed as addons. IMHO, MTX has the best rendition of AI and the program is constantly updated by the developer. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! January 8, 201313 yr Author Jim, I did a "repair" from my original FSX discs and that has put ai_player back in position. A couple of flights, and this seems to be a resolution to the problem. Many thanks for your help, and I'll see hoe things go, but it all looks to be ok now, Ron Ron McConnell
