  1. Many thanks for your replies, I'll take a closer look at things and get this sorted out, Ron
  2. Hi For some unknown reason I've suddenly lost the take off speed check call out at 80 knots for my 777. I've searched the CDU simulation options but can only find reference to v1, vr and v2 call outs, all of which are live. I'm sure I haven't altered any settings which might be causing this, and I would certainly appreciate any help in getting this call out reinstated. Many thanks Ron (Kerrydancer)
  3. Robert, I know it's great news regarding the recent 747QOTS release coupled with P3Dv4 from Lockheed Martin, but can I just pop in a question and ask why, oh why, did you decide to remove the MD-11 from your product range. All the hard work by yourself and the associated developers has now been lost to the flight sim community, and I know quite a few of us who deeply regret not being able to purchase and fly this great aircraft. Time marches on, and new aircraft take pride of place, but the MD-11 is one of a kind and will remain so for quite some time to come - at least in the hearts of quite a few of us. Ron
  4. Hi guys, Can I thank you all for your help - the problem is now resolved. I know I had downloaded AIRAC 1705 v2 quite recently because the small status screen next to PMDG turned orange instead of the usual green after updating, but I completely forgot about this in my post and I now realise it was obviously telling me there was some sort of a problem - but at the time this didn't ring any alarm bells with me. I feel so stupid about it now !! Anyway, when Ubersu mentioned 1705 v3, I immediatley went to Navigraph and updated. The screen turned green - and now all is well. The same flight plan loads properly into the CDU with no error. You are also correct re the date / time issue. P3D had an incorrect date on start-up. I cannot thank you all enough for the time and trouble you have taken with this, and I apologise for being such a dickhead about it all. Ron
  5. HI guys, Thanks for your replies. In response, I never start FSX or P3D with any saved flights, But I'm not sure if you mean flights or flight plans. If you mean flight plans created outside the range of the current AIRAC, I've never had this happening before and some plans date back at least a year. The error appears immediately when entering any saved flight plan from FS Commander into the FMC CDU. This is before entering any SID / STAR information with the DEP/ARR button. I will take your advice and delete the relevant file and let the program rebuild. The initial location when this happened was UBBB, immediately ( as I remember ) after updating with Navigraph AIRAC 1705, the current release. No matter what location I am at now, the error appears immediately on loading any flight plan into the FMC. Ron
  6. Hi, I have a couple of questions relating to my 777 FMC which I hope can be resolved in the forum. Firstly, although the latest AIRAC revision from Navigraph is clearly shown on the CDU Ident screen prior to entering flight plan data, the message "Nav Data out of Date" is always shown on the CDU screen. Can anyone advise why this should be. Secondly, I have recently started getting the following error message in my CDU screen when entering a flight plan LN:177 ERR at HDG No matter what plan is entered, the same message is displayed. This would appear to indicate a heading error in line 177, but what is line 177 and how can this be accessed and corrected ? Could anyone please explain and provide help in solving the problem. Many thanks Ron
  7. Hi, Many thanks for your reply. I have a Sound Blaster Z card installed and have it set to simple stereo headphone output as I use phones when flying. I've tried all of the options this card provides in an effort to improve matters, but have had little success. I don't mind the ac sound at all however would be grateful of knowing if t here is a way to reduce the volume to a more realistic level. Ron
  8. Hi, I've had the PMDG 777 for some time now, but have always been surprised at the level of sound on loading, after the systems countdown has completed. The noise is similar to an air conditioning airflow noise, but is much louder than that - almost like a wind noise at full speed. So much so that there is little change during take-off until the gear is lifted, then things quieten a little. Deciding if I could do anything to improve matters, I went into the aircraft sound folder and listened to all the individual files, trying to identify those I thought were closest, and removed these tempoarily to a thumb drive. On loading up the 777 again, little or no change was heard. Everything sounded normal. On impulse, I removed the sound folder completely to the thumb drive and loaded up the 777 again, expecting silence. However, I was surprised to hear no change whatsoever. All sounds were present, even when extending flaps, taking off up the runway, and retracting the gear. My question - Where the - - - is the aircraft getting its sound from ?? If I wanted to change the sound package for whatever reason, there would be no point, as the original sounds are still there. Can anyone explain ? Ron
  9. Many thanks to all of you. I'll I'll certainly give your solutions a try. Ron
  10. Hi, I recently noticed that my PMDG MD-11 always follows a path about 5 or 6 miles to the left of the intended flightpath as viewed on the navigation display. When in flight this isn't a big problem, but when flying an ILS, I can see the runway way off to trhe right, and each time have to take manual control for landing. Does anyone know the cause of this, and is there a solution. Ron
  11. Firehawk44 My sincere apologies to you and to all other forum members for spamming this issue several times. I was using an Apple ipad for the first time and was completely thrown by the totally different operating system. Basically I couldn't get the thing to work properly for me and the smaller screen didn't display the whole Avsim forum page as I am used to. Thus, I had little idea of what I was doing. After posting the thread initially, I couldn'e see it on the forum and thought the post had failed. This happened more than once and was the cause of all my posts. Once again, sincere apologies to all. Ron.
  12. When trying to uninstall FSX, the Control Panel uninstall tool couldn't manage the job due to a missing file. I therefore had to revert to Revo Uninstaller which did the job. However the FSX directory remained with all its files and folders. I managed to remove all of these with the exception of one named Font. This comtains various fonts used in the program, however I get the error message that they are also being used by "System" and therefore cannot be uninstalled. Can anyoine advise whar "System" is ? I can understand FSX perhaps relying on computer system files to work, but not the computer system needing FSX files. I'm now stuck with the FSX directory and this Font folder and its files until I can find a solution. Can anyone help ? Many thanks Ron
  13. I'm trying to remove FSX but am left with a folder named Font. The uninstall tool in Control Panel has removed the program but not the files and folders within FSX itself. I've been able to remove all of these except for the one named Font which contains files files which are being used by " System" What is System ? I can imagine FSX needing the computer system files for some reason, but not the system needing FSX files. Can anyone help. Ron
  14. I am in the process of uninstalling fix due to corrupted file. The program repair option has not corrected the problem, so I'm starting from scratch with a new installation on a different drive. The problem is that the program removal tool in Control Panel has removed the program, but all the files and folders remain in the directory. I can remove all of thes with the exception of one folder named Font. Problem is that files within this folder are being used with "System" and it won't allow me to delete. What "System" can it be referring to ? I can understand font files in System being needed by FSX, but not the other way round. Can anyone tell me what this System is, and how I can get this folder removed. Thanks. Ron
  15. Johannvr, Thanks for that. I couldn't find the files anywhere, so I explored and discovered another way to solve this issue. Let's suppose a flight from London Heathrow to Johannesburg - EGLL to FAJS. Complie the flight in FS Commander as normal and save the file - EGLLFAJS01. When saving make sure the PMDG export box is checked. This will export the file to the PMDG folder within FSX. Navigate to FSX>PMDG>Flightplans and find EGLLFAJS01.rte Right click and rename the file EGLLFAOR.rte. Double click the file and open with Notepad or a similar program. Scroll to the entry fajs and rename faor. Save the fie. Now we have a flightplan in FS Commander which that porgram will display as FAJS, and the PMDG FMC will accept the plan EGLLFAOR01 when entered as the Company Route. Perhaps not the most accurate way to do it, but it's free, and it works. Obviously, Durban (FADN) is now closed, with a new airport (FALE) 60 klicks to the north, but for my flight sim purposes, I don't mind the error. Having said all that, since I fly to these two regularly, I think the investment in getting the downloads you mentioned is worthwhile. Other, less important airports for me, I can deal with by the method explained. Anyway, may I thank you all for your help with this issue. Have a great time expolring the skies !! Ron
