Like most adolescents, I was a big fan of combat aircraft. I have outgrown that phase as reality has set in. But, I have always had a few combat planes in my FS collection, particularly those of the local air force.

When they were flying the Enaer Pillán, I had that with the appropriate paint scheme. Nowadays, they fly the Embraer Super Tucano, among others, and I also had that in FS in the air force colors. Their mission is drug interdiction, you know, finding those "clandestine" flights. Since the Super Tucano carries cannon, it is a lot more of a deterrent than an RV!

Of course, there is no Super Tucano in Flight, not even a Pillán. But, there is a Mustang. As it happens, the locals flew that plane in the past. In fact, they had 50 of them!

But, repainting the Flight Mustang is perhaps not worth the trouble. First, it is too fast for me and doesn't handle very well, so I rarely use it. And the textures are full of decals and specular maps for the decals, so it would be a big effort.

Luckily, the local air force also once flew the Stearman! Now, that is more like it. B)

This is my "Fuerza Aérea Dominicana" livery for the Stearman.

The markings are not historically accurate, but the number is correct. 1301 was the first Stearman they flew.

Here it is on the closed runway at Ford Island.

Those shadows from the wing and struts on the fuselage are a lovely effect. Anybody who can do that in Photoshop is a very, very good artist. :LMAO: Not to mention the oblique mapping, the specular shine, etc.

Is it a lot of work to change a paint scheme.

Hi,

If Santa's sleigh darkened in the shadow or remained the same size I might have been a believer. Ah well...
