January 5, 201313 yr I'm jus trying to figure out just how many folks are experiencing the Joystick disconnect issue with Windows 7 and if so, when did it start. I started having issues in November. I'm trying to figure out whether or not this is an isolated issue or whether a significant number of people are having this issue with 7. I'm tempted just to reinstall windows 7 and FSX without installing any updates to see what happens. Any input would be appreciated. Steve Giblin
January 5, 201313 yr Win 7 64 here, no disconnects ever. Might help to describe your configuration, including the joystick, any hubs, and what sort of motherboard and port you're connecting to. Have you unchecked the option to allow Windows to power-down your USB hubs? Just curious...do you have all of the latest updates installed including the optional ones? I'm trying to decide if I have a hardware issue or if an update is causing my woes. There have been a couple of other people using windows 7 that have mentioned issues in the Windows 8 threads. Because of the Winows 8 issue I suspect that an update might be causing my problem. Just trying to ascertain how many Windows 7 users are having issues. Steve Giblin

If so, what kind, and is it powered? What kind of USB port/controller is it plugged into on the motherboard? Which drivers are installed for the USB port? Are all of your controllers disconnecting or just certain ones? Have you tried plugging the controllers into a different USB port, preferably one on a different controller if your motherboard is so-equipped? January 6, 201313 yr No hubs. The controllers are plugged into the connected directly to the motherboard. I've swapped them around. I'll have to check the drivers. Thanks. I have to wonder, since I haven't heard complaints of other USB devices dropping off, if using a powered hub and connecting a USB device that is regularly polled by Windows (i.e. a mouse or keyboard) into another port on the same hub might help keep the port awake for Windows 8 and/or 7. That's basically my config...a PFC yoke, a Thrustmaster Warthog joystick, two sets of PFC rudder pedals, a PFC throttle quad, the Warthog throttle quad, and a Thrustmaster T16000M all plugged into two powered USB hubs which also share connections for a second USB keyboard, a Logitech G13 game controller (keyboard emulator) and a second mouse. January 6, 201313 yr I started having this problem as well. It all began when I followed AOA's advice to delete all the keyboard shortcuts in FSX and create profile specific assignments in FSUIPC for the 737NGX. If my joystick and throttle disconnect, I just go into FSUIPC, click on Joystick Calibration, click the profile specific button, and select my NGX profile and everything comes back. Not sure what is happening but it seems like AivlaSoft's EFB is disconnecting and reconnecting to FSUIPC a lot as well. Using Windows 7-64 bit. Kevin Witt

AFAIK, the Aivalsoft EFB connects to FSX via SimConnect directly...not sure why it would be interacting with FSUIPC at all. What do you mean by "disconnecting and connecting to FSUIPC"??
