January 8, 201313 yr Hello all, This may be one of the dumbest questions ever or one with the most obvious answer but in all my years of flight simming, I don't recall ever reading or seeing what the recommended approach to this is. Should we be disabling scenery add ons in our scenery library that we aren't using(i.e. flying anywhere near)? For example, I have several detailed scenery for airports in the US(FSDT, Flightbeam, FlyTampa) and UTX/GEX. Over the past couple months, I have switched to flying exclusively in Europe and have been buying add ons for the that side of the pond. At the moment, I have not tried disabling the US stuff. I've just left that alone. My system performs fine so I've never really given this much thought before. But, would I benefit and/or should I disable the US airports, UTX, etc? Or, would doing so cause negative effects? Maybe, it doesn't matter? Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024
January 8, 201313 yr The scenery display system is smart enough to only use what is required. It won't hurt anything to disable scenery, but you also won't gain anything by doing so.
January 8, 201313 yr From what I've observed watching Procmon, the main thing that gets "looked at" from remote areas are object library bgls. I don't think it has any impact on performance. scott s. .
January 8, 201313 yr Author Ok, this is more or less what I thought. If it did cause a problem, I would have noticed by now and I'm sure this would have been talked about way before me mentioning it just now. It was just a question that I had wondered about and just wanted confirmation to what I was already thinking. Thanks for the answers.
