January 13, 201313 yr I think I have a problem with textures getting hooped..Below is a picture of what I see.. Any help to fix would be appreciated..I am now using REX and had previously installed "Best replacement water for FS9,2004" file size 4,626. Would that have something to do with it? Thanks Rick
January 13, 201313 yr You can Check under Settings in the display menu and make sure the water effects slider is all the way up Hmmmmm that is weird though i've never seen that type of problem before, if i were you just for testing i would do a quick system restore and restore the pc to a date before the actual problem occurred and see if that helps if it does it may help pinpoint the actual problem. Or you can always manually delete the water texture files in Scenery/World/Textures directory and replace them.
January 13, 201313 yr Author Sliders at max. Yes! Delete water textures is what I was thinking but don't want to delete the wrong files and screw things up worse. I have lots of add on's and don't want to start from scratch. Does anyone know if I delete the water files if REX will restore them automatically or do I have to reinstall REX to reinstall the textures. Does REX even do the water textures? Stumped.
January 13, 201313 yr had previously installed "Best replacement water for FS9,2004" file size 4,626 If those had working well for you before rex install .. you can try to reinstall this water mod .. and check if improvement ... You can also read this ... http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?258981-FS9-Water-Textures
January 13, 201313 yr REX Actually back's up default textures, its one of the things it ask's you to do when you first install REX you should be able to restore the the default water textures, If that doesn't help go to Start/Accessories/system tools/ system restore when restore wizard shows up there should be an option that says restore to an earlier date, when the calendar pops up on the bottom somewhere there should be an option that says show more restore points. Right there after selecting that option you can pick a date (i would select the most recent one that you know for sure you weren't experiencing the problem ) once done follow the wizard thoroughly let the pc restart and your done ;-) NOTE; If you are a windows 7 user like me you probably wont see a calender. you will most likely see whats shown in the picture below.
January 14, 201313 yr Author I went into REX and put the default textures back in. I do think it is those textures that are the issue. It is still there but not as noticeable.. The reflection on the water is a bunch of lines, and i think these are exagerated when using REX. my guess is REX is not overwriting all the water textures? I am going to install the set you mentioned from " the other site and see what happens.. If it is ok I will reinstall the REX textures and hope that catches the problem.. I will let you know.. Thanks for your help..Appreciated! Here is a screen shot of the water I had before REX install.. you can see the vertical lines but much more faint, and the reflection is also vertical.. This is the problem, I am sure.. Anyone know of a good free ware from here that I can test before I purchase the Zinertek water ? I thought REX used Zinertek? I could be wrong, I thought I saw that in credits some where.... Thanks again
January 14, 201313 yr Author Ok.. So I have narrowed it down to REX textures.. It is the wave motion that makes it go like this.. It is clear right by the aircraft and whenever a wave goes by it shows up like this..I will play around with the configuration tool in REX and see what I come up with.. I will the post this in the support section on the REX site.. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.. Not very up to date on this anymore.. learning though..take a bit for the old guys.. Cheers
January 15, 201313 yr One more thing, on the picture below I had a similar problem to that, it ended up being my water effect bar under display settings, make sure your water effect bar is all the way up.
January 15, 201313 yr Author water effects slider on max..I posted on REX support and no feedback yet.. I have tries different settings and still the same.. I will try and post up a short video.. not very appealing, to me anyways..
January 15, 201313 yr Author I have made a FSR vidoe file with the recorder in FS9..any idea how to get it on the post? And Hey, I forgot...your Welcome and thanks again..I tried to upload it and it said Water.FSR You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file
January 15, 201313 yr The "video" made in FS2004 (with the sim recorder tool or the soft FSRecorder) is not a video It's just a data collection and so it's only playable in the sim ! (When you ask for play ...the sim read the data) So it's useless to send (the FSR file) it to someone for show your problems as the data will be play with the settings (mods etc .. the nice water ..) of the user ... lol If you want make a video (Avi .. MPEG .. etc) you need to use a video recorder as FRAP So you will have a "real video" and this video can be uploaded on Youtube or you can upload it on a free host and post the link for download in the forum .... I made also time ago a video tutorial (PDF format) You can download here: http://www.mediafire.com/?d7jalw4opalw11c Hope it's help !
January 15, 201313 yr Navtec is correct you will need to use Fraps but if you have an iPhone you can replay the recorded FS data as traffic and record it with an iPhone like I do, sure you will have to hold the iPhone up in front of the screen but it works lol. After that you will need to upload the recorded video to YouTube then once uploaded to YouTube copy paste the link into the post here and the video will show up on your post
January 15, 201313 yr I've never been happy with REX water for FS9. If you want excellent looking freeware water I would use this: http://forum.simflight.com/topic/46964-holgers-list-of-sky-water-and-road-textures/
