January 15, 201313 yr Hi guys I used to have a license for the old cockpit sharing gates.to program but after a long break from simming I see they've not gone down the pipe. Since I've moved to FSX now I was wondering if there's any program out there that let's you share your cockpit while on the likes of VATSIM. For anyone who doesn't know what gates.to was, you could have your friend run the program and you could basically both fly and control the same aircraft. Texture Artist · Screenshot Developer
January 15, 201313 yr Commercial Member Sir, In FSX there are a few aircraft that work in Shared Cockpit, using SImConnect. 1. Most FSX Default Aircraft. 2. Leonardo Maddog (I strongly recommend the 2010 Professional) 3. Fokker 4. Abatross (two seat jet aircraft) 5. IRIS F-15E Mudhen (though this one has performance issues in shared cockpit) 6. Real Air Turbine Duke (possibly a few of their other aircraft). If you're looking to fly Shared Cockpit in a high-end commercial airliner addon, then the Leonardo Maddog 2010 Professional is the only way to go. If you're looking for someone to fly shared cockpit with, might I suggest: Website: OVPA1.WEBS.COM Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/groups/354598604620561/ Dave Dave Hodges System Specs: I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.
January 16, 201313 yr Hey Dave... Awesome, I joined... Am still trying to figure out this VAT sim stuff, have a VATsim account, and just getting to grips with FSInn, but really would LOVE to learn to fly in a shared cockpit online, that would be freakin awesome! Looks like I'm the 20th member and the 2nd from the UK :-) Richard... Amateur Pilot and UK Web Hosting Guru 🙂
January 16, 201313 yr Commercial Member Richard, Welcome aboard. It would be my pleasure to assist you in both. We've helped many people become familar with VATSIM and making realistic commercial flights online. Shared cockpit is the ultimate tool for that, and a fun and exciting one as well! We have an FSINN installation guide to set up FSX and FSINN, as well as the Maddog for shared cockpit. I recommend waiting to install FSINN via the FSINN Installation Sticky (Google that and it will come up). We'll also go through your FSX installation if you like to help optimize it for VATSIM (we've done that with countless guys) or we can provide you with a guide to do it yourself. Can't wait to share our other tools with you.... AI Aircraft Library of close to 4000 aircraft (mostly airliners), Custom Worldwide Scenery Library, Custom Maddog Tweaks for shared cockpit, etc. Should be lots of fun! I see you've joined the Facebook Page and Website. The next think is to send an email to the "Contract OVPA" email address requesting formal membership, and we'll happily open those doors to you. Talk to you soon! Dave Dave Hodges System Specs: I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.
January 17, 201313 yr oh, I have to apply to join, again? lol... ok, all done :-) Might be another week or so until my FSX is all back on its feet after the last total re-install a few weeks ago.. January is always busy with my firm, the tax man, and Air Cadet stuff :-) Richard... Amateur Pilot and UK Web Hosting Guru 🙂
January 17, 201313 yr Commercial Member LOL. We have the Facebook and Website open to the public (email verification only). Formal Membership requires an appplication and verification process given that we provide the benefits I mentioned above, and what i didn't mention was the Online Tech Support to members only. SInce we connect to one another, we have a few security requirements that only Formal Members must meet. Securit requirements are covered in detail in the applicaiton, but basically it's an approved Anti-virus which is kept update and for which you run a full weekly scan of your system (we usually do it when we're sleeping). Not only is this good for everyone to do, but it adds that extra level of assurance that our systems remain secure when connecting for training, Online (Desktop) Tech Support, and Shared Cockpit. As you might tell, we've put a lot of time and effort into the group over the past four years.... lot of work too! LOL Very much looking forward to speaking and flying with you! Application on the way in 30 minutes or so. Dave Dave Hodges System Specs: I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.
January 18, 201313 yr Hi Dave, wanted to share what I posted on your facebook group with a wider audience: Hiya Dave / All.. Just wanted to say a big thanks So far, never has so much, been so simply explained, about something so seemingly complicated, with so few words... (Almost quoting churchill) Will read over the docs hopefully over the weekend if its going to be snowed in :-) Your welcome email is incredibly re-assuring and welcoming, very well written indeed... I'm really looking forward to trying out this shared cockpit flying.. I hope we get 3ft of snow all weekend so I can stay home and get stuck in, now I've got the warty all set-up finally.. Anybody considering trying out flying on-line that doesn't do so yet, give OVPA a look, seems very reassuring and keen to "Show you the way"... I'm up for it.. Richard...
