August 14, 200421 yr Does anyone know if there is a way to assign the scroll wheel on the MicroSoft Optical Mouse to the elevator trim function? This would seem to better mimic how trim is set on many A/C
August 14, 200421 yr Hi Bill,Just move your mouse pointer over the trim wheel on the panel and then the scroll wheel will act as you wish.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
August 14, 200421 yr I myself, always use two buttons (fore & aft) or a hatswitch on my joystick. It makes it a one handed operation, much like electric trim on an aircraft. But at least I can start releasing pressure as I trim, and betweem the force of the sticks spring, and what I see on the screen...................it actually seems to provide a "feeling" of correct trimming. It may be giving all my planes electric trim, but that's at least as realistic as moving a trim wheel with a mouse! :)L.Adamson
August 14, 200421 yr I'd like to see the mousewheel assignable as trim control...It isn't too easy in VC ;) H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
August 15, 200421 yr It would be nice to use the mouse wheel to the trim and also other funtions where the control it allocates could be used. I will take a chance and e-mail MS ans see if t he mose wheel is able to be used for different applications.Mark.
August 15, 200421 yr Hold your mouse cursor over the control, and spin the wheel...will do what ya want....nothing else to set up. I think that was mentioned before....:)
August 15, 200421 yr Get a Saitek X-45 stick and throttle unit and assign elevator trim to a hat or rotary switch - it works super.
August 15, 200421 yr Author Thanks to all for the feedback. I have been using some panels that do not show a trim wheel, so did not try that. I have my Flight Stick set up like (Larry?) mentioned and that does work pretty well. I might try the Saitek sometime. All in all your tips were great!

I have the Saitek X-45, & use the upper left hat switch on the stick for trim. It's my preference over the others.L.Adamson
